Should this let me mount a shared folder from vista using samba?

I get permission denied.

I suppose that vista's shared resources are not so differents from xp or so on, you should be able to mount it from wizard-mounter without problems.
Btw, you can mount this shared folder from some other linux machine ?

You must insert username/password for samba shares, but you can use anything you want; if your server doesn't support (or doesn't have) username/password, it simply ignores these.

What else is needed for this to work. Any other installations? Does this install Samba with a GUI?

b0unc3 2010-02-12 16:59

Re: [Announce] wizard-mounter for fremantle

@garsim: if get error mounting the vista samba shares, please verify that you can mount it without error from the linux machine.

@les_garten : nothing needed to be installed , it will install all the necessary automatically. For samba it install the cifs kernel module so no gui.

@b0unc3
Still trying to confirm it but there may be a problem with corrupt sudoers file after installing wizard-mounter.

I have had a corrupt sudoers file this morning after uninstalling and there is a thread http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=44265 where the poster had installed wizard-mounter.

Try "guest" as the user name. I believe you can use a blank password.

I can confirm this bug, after trying it, I uninstalled this app via the package manager, and got a corrupt sudoers file too.

(The app itself did work and mount my shares normally, for what it's worth :P)

I just installed it and it works great. Do you think if you had not uninstalled it, you would be OK? I'm not having any issues and I just installed it today.

Re: [Announce] wizard-mounter for fremantle

I just installed it and all I can say.. YAY!

I succesfully mounted a Linux Samba and a Windows 7 share. There is only one problem though. Greek characters are shown as question marks and you cannot see those folder's files.

Fantastic job! Keep it up :-)

Yes, I can confirm it too :(
That's due to a wrong sed command in the prerm script.
You need to manually fix it before upgrading or uninstalling wizard-mounter.
Follow the howto on prerm on this page :
https://garage.maemo.org/frs/?group_id=444

In brief:
1. download the new prerm script on the link upper
2. copy the new prerm script (wizard-mounter.prerm) to /var/lib/dpkg/info/wizard-mounter.prerm
3. You're done.

I'm sorry for the troubles :(

Re: [Announce] wizard-mounter for fremantle

Can someone clarify what needs to be fixed in the sudoers file?

I've changed line 7 to allow umount of /media/mmc1, and deleted the extra /media/mmc2 from line 140. This has got rid of the error but I'm not sure whether that's cleared up everything properly or not, and I'd rather not reflash.

Why are you using sed to do this? Maemo provides update-sudoers for a reason.

Put the content that you'd like to have in sudoers into a file called "wizard-mounter.sudoers" and install that file to /etc/sudoers.d/ as part of your package. In the postinst and postrm, just run "update-sudoers".
If your wizard-mounter.sudoers file is dodgy, update-sudoers doesn't update /etc/sudoers as opposed to just ruining it. Which is what is happening currently with your sed method. Simple as that.

I completly ignore the existence of update-sudoers. Thanks to pointed it out!
I'll look how to use/integrate it in wizard-mounter.

I had the same issue after upgrading wizard mounter - corrupted sudoers. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks,
Corwin

That's should be ok if you have done that after uninstalling.

Re: [Announce] wizard-mounter for fremantle

I just updated the parem file. There is a new update available today, is it safe to update now? Sorry for the Post, just trying to avoid brick mode

p.s. the Permissions on the old parem file was 755, but your update was 744. I reset the new one to 755.

Why were the permissions different? Does it matter?

If you see the ver. 1.5.6 than yes, update (after updating the prerm script).
The ver. 1.5.6 uses the update-sudoers stuff to update your sudoers file, so it's safer to update (I suppose).

I think the permission change when you download the file (or I upload it to garage), changing it manually is trivial.

Happened to me also. I just reflashed since I had a valid backup. Now I have 10 megs more rootfs than I had before the reflashing :)

Re: [Announce] wizard-mounter for fremantle

Ok. I just prepared for a reflash.
just one keystroke away from starting it.
But I thought I´d check the thread again.

One thing I have noticed is that I have a lot of old folder remaining from previous installed programs.
Is there any smart way of cleaning up /home/user from these folders?

Soap77 2010-02-14 09:32

Re: [Announce] wizard-mounter for fremantle

Now I´m sad.
I reflashed the device and it is now going into reboot loop
(I have tried 3 times, and still the same result)

[edit] I will try the NSU and see if this helps me out [/edit]

Re: [Announce] wizard-mounter for fremantle

had the same sudoers trouble. fixed it through SSH from my pc: Copied the perm script, changed prevs to 775 and did update-sudoers. Dont know which of them helped, but it's working properly now.

Soap77 2010-02-14 10:37

Re: [Announce] wizard-mounter for fremantle

NSU could not update its firmware as current FW already was installed.
I installed 1.0 FW and the phone seems to work fine, (exept cell was disabled off course)
So I tried 1.1 again, and the reboot loop came again.
I would like to try to flash the eMMC but I cannot get to nokias site to download it.

Re: [Announce] wizard-mounter for fremantle

so, is 1.5.6 save to install?

b0unc3 2010-02-14 11:39

Re: [Announce] wizard-mounter for fremantle

@Soap77: My apologies for the troubles, but the problems that you are facing with seems not be related to wizard-mounter, you'd better open a new thread to get more help
@quingu: yes update to 1.5.6 (but fix the prerm script before)

It seems like I cannot promote the 1.5.6 to extras-testing (and I don't know why :( )

I also had trouble with corrupt sudoers file but I didn't fix any "prerm"-script.

Just changed /etc/sudoers file via SSH -> uninstalled .1.5.5 -> re-installed .1.5.6 and it worked.

What shall someone exactly do to "fix prerm-script"?

thanks, but what about a vanilla install, not upgrade? Does it work without editing stuff?

You certainly dont need to apologise, I dont blame you for anything. :)

Allthough I cannot relate the problem to anything other than wizard-mounter.
It was the last app i installed. it work great, and I could mount drives on my network.
Then came the update and the problems started.
If I read the thread before I installed the update, and before I rebooted my device, I could probably avoid the problems.
I will se if I can get hold of the vanilla image to flash it from scratch.

Re: [Announce] wizard-mounter for fremantle

@sxg75: changing sudoers manually would be sufficient to doesn't get more problem, you can find more info on howto to fix the prerm script on the project page here : https://garage.maemo.org/projects/wizard-mounter/

@quingu: the problem is only when you uninstall wizard-mounter-1.5.4 , because when you uninstall dpkg execute the prerm script that (only for the 1.5.4) corrupt your sudoers file.

If you have updated without fixing the prerm script than you have get a corrupted sudoers file that may (someone else could confirm?) cause loop reboot.
