[Maemo 5] Is there a "Game" that can be called a Game?

I Love My N900, except few things.

WHY ALL OF THE GAMES ARE SHITTY!? it's like 30~ years old, worse than Nintendos.

I finally found a game named Nspeed (am I right?) and the description was futuristic "3D" racing game. I was like HURRAY!

and installed, and turned this on. shhhhhhhit.

If you wanna know how I'm feeling, just run this game : nspeed

why isn't there any game like iPhone? frankly speaking, iPhone's game is good. clear pictured games. but n900... just sad.

my friends often asking me do you have a game. "I get embrassed with N900's game."

wtf with that tennis game called tennix?

...sigh......

plz, no offense on this post. just feeling sad..

Re: Is there any "Games" that can called as a Game?

Because there aren't as many users, it isn't (relatively) profitable for companies like EA to make games for the N900.

I'd love love love love some RPG's on my phone but... what can I say there aren't enough of us to make it worth it for developers.

Man though, I would seriously give up one of my appendages for an action adventure RPG that looks as good as bounce on the N900...

AngryBirds is nice. I also play a lot of OpenTTD. But yes, the n900 just like most other platforms can't compare to the iphone in the games department

oh...

I am seriously wondering, why Nokia is not advertising their flagship device, N900.

just like iPhone, and Nexus One, why aren't they just make it and sell it on their own? why aren't they trying to sell more!?!?

come on really, want games buy a psp or ds, lets face it, games on these devices are rubbish, yes even those ones on the iphone, out of the 100+ games i bought for my 3GS id consider maybee 3 of them being worthy of repeat plays.

id rather developers concentrate on usefull applications than load once and delete games.. :)

Gotta agree Nspeed is diabolical. Whoever built it can't have tested it on the n900.

Is soccer frenzy like hoops frenzy but flicker a ball into a goal instead of a hoop?

Cause N900 is just step three of their four-step plan to release internet tablets, if I recall correctly. N900 is more of a "prototype", at least that's the impression I got.

Nspeed for M5 is simply a port from S60V1, which runs on phones such as the original N-Gage phone.

Not sure where you live, but there are quite a few adverts for the N900 on the tube in London. Also in the windows of Vodafone shops and Carephone Warehouse Stores. I think it's been in some of the papers/magazines as well.

To be honest I think they're advertising it a bit too hard... Lots of people are gonna be disappointed especially at the lack of games. It's not a device for the common man.

Oh! I never knew it's like that on England!

Dont agree. Don't get why so many of you (the geek brigade?) think the common man can't handle the N900. Its the best internet device out there at present. Why shouldn't Jo Blogs want this thing?! It promises to be so much. The future is bright for the N900.

GOD damn that!

so, is it going to be a "nice one" by firmware upgrade, or by next device???

If it's prototype for next device, not a firmware, I'm gonna ****in fire the Nokia Headquarter office.

$640 is a lot for Highschool sophomore.

Joe Bloggs wants games. The N900 has 2 (bounce and Angries) that could be considered comparable to iPhone/Andriod. Joe Bloggs also likes Apps and more functions on the phone. My mother saw my N900 and said she wanted one. I told her it couldn't do individual ring tones for contacts and now she isn't keen. This is the level we're dealing with.

Perhaps not prototype, but the new device with M6 will probably be 'cooler', or at least have more eye candy. And it's not even certain whether you can install M6 on N900 or not.

Re: Is there any "Games" that can called as a Game?

Different games for different devices. My DSi LL is my main device for gaming on the go. I do appreciate Angry Birds, Line Rider and Hoops Frenzy on the N900 though.

I made my mind up about buying the N900 the second I saw a DrNokSnes demo. Super Mario bros never gets old.

Well I think that basically is that the games are done for volonters that do not get any pay for it. So it is normal that games are not so well performed.

Anyway I think that nokia will give us soje good news about this topic.

Well that's all down to personal preference, don't you think? There are so many ways to pick games you might like - I've experimented with a ton! - and the tried and true method still works the best for me: looking through screenshots, playing a bit of the game, and adding it to favorites; or in this case, putting it on your N900. Of course, that doesn't guarantee the game will play, or play well enough, on the N900, but the only way to know is to try. Experimentation is half the fun.

So try this.

Go get MAMEUI here
http://www.mameui.info/

and get the screenshots (aka titles, or "snaps", the name of the folder you'll put it into) here
http://www.mametitles.com/

Install MAMEUI and put the snaps in their proper folder, run MAMUI, and as you scroll through the games list, you'll be able to see a screenshot of any game you might be interested in trying. And you'll also have the name of the rom you'd be intersested in right there in front of you.

Of course, if you do then want to get the games to play, you'll have to figure that part out on your own, but it shouldn't be too difficult. Again, as usual, there are easier and harder ways to to that, too.

***And please note, mods or anyone else, the links above are NOT to rom files, they are just to the MAME software itself, and to snapshots of the games that MAME currently runs - nothing more***

Need some Gameeeesss

I'm a proud owner of the N900, because i know of it's raw power, but i'm kinda upset of the lacking of applications, i know it's because of the OS's so new, and i'm hoping time will solve that problem, so i made this thread as kinda of a suggestion for developers, I hate seeing how apple's iphones got so many great games, like Resident Evil 4, and great graphics driving game making use of the accelerometer, so i was wondering if any of those games are coming to the N900, i know they could make even better ones, so i'm just hoping they're aiming in that direction.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a lot of iphone games to come to the N900, at least not in the near future. Quake III Arena is already here, but idk how many more like that will come.

Maybe once the ovi store gets on its way and developers see the real possibility of making money on this platform you might get your wish, but that could be a while.

There are games and there will be more games for the N900, and it is certainly capable of 3D gaming, but I don't believe you can really consider it a gaming platform at this time, at least not like the iphone.

Snes games are great, and i love snes to death, but that's not new nor impressive, since snes emulators have been around for a while, and i know it's to early to be asking for much, but i'm only suggesting this for developers to start working on, like using accelorometer for driving games it's always fun, and the touch screen in puzzle games and stuff like that, or maybe at least port some of the games already available in S60 v5, i know nokia 5800 has some cool games that would run great in N900

Re: [Maemo 5] Is there a "Game" that can be called a Game?

Well I agree that there exist quite less games for the N900 (If we exclude the roms for the emulators), but we can change that :)

Games like Angry Birds or Bounce show what the N900 can do, but it aren't enough games at all. I think quite a lot of Linux games can be ported that still easier then beginning from scratch a totally new game.

For flash games like tower defence have a look here -> http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...3&postcount=14
