Selling my N900 today

Ok, I've had it! I've been using Nokia products basically all my life but this is it! I do not tolerate this crap any more!

I paid my hard earned money to get the N900 and wanted to believe in it, but I can not tolerate it when the device is malfunctioning on basic things like calendar sync! Not to mention other obscurities!

If this is how Nokia wants to treat old Nokia fellows then this is it! I do not want this any more! Thank you and goodbye!!! I put my N900 on sale today and will never get another Nokia device!!!!

feel for you. nokia apologists will tell you that you are in huge minority. but they are wrong as the number of negative posts tells me that nokia mismarketed this device

If you are serious, please PM me, I want to get one more N900. I would help you to get rid of this 'crap' today. If you have a 2nd thought and want to hang on it for awhile or till the next update, I think it is not a bad idea. Anyway, I am interested

No, I don't think so. I think Nokia apologists would tell you this is what you get when you don't research before you buy, that Nokia clearly stated this is a computer first and a phone second, that if you wanted a smartphone you should have bought a smartphone, and stuff like that. Also, that what you describe as missing is useless, oldfashioned and you're wrong to want it. And what you describe as buggy works perfectly for them, and again, it was your fault for expecting it to be something other than it is.

people assumed that this phone has basic stuff that other phones have. i cant use my email so its useless for me. i guess you are saying that i assumed wrongly that email will work? if i need a computer only.....i have several at home. in this day and age you dont throw out on the market a pricey device that doesnt deliver what everyone customarily expects

so?

Why this isn't at buy&sell section? wheres the announcement that includes price etc?

Re: Selling my N900 today

Oh, you misunderstand me. I am not a Nokia apologist. I find some basic features missing really frustrating. While I know that the N900 has gone further in one generation from the N810 than I really expected, I still think it's a while left before it's as good a phone as the average phone.

You were however stating that Nokia apologists believe it's a problem free product for most owners. The Nokia apologists I have seen, do not have blinds. They have opinions. They believe the product is right for them, and that the people who it is not right for, were wrong to buy it.

I was on the N900 but after breakfast I moved over to my PC. It has higher resolution, 3840 x 1200, and a better keyboard.

Pretty much the first think Nokia said in their _product launch_ was that this is not yet mass market ready and that Maemo6 is where it's at. If that's not transparent and fair then I don't know what is! :D

Anyway, tell us your price, OP, and I am sure people will grab it of your frustrated hands in no time! :)

How many people do you know, offsite, that knows what Nokia, Samsung, Pioneer, said at the product launches of the products they own?

The only product launches you ever hear about, are apple product launches. A week before the iPad, the Other Steve showed off Better Tablets, and I have yet to notice any tech site, blog, or private person mention it.

Information shared on these insider events is simply not the information people know about or even find when they consider what device to get.

Unless you get a reasonable amount of money for your used N900, I personally suggest you to at least wait for the next firmware upgrade. On the N97 it made a huge difference.

Okay now I get it. All these negative topics are made by people that love their N900, but they just can't wait for the next firmware update to love it even more and they want Nokia devs' to read their topics in order to release next firmware sooner.

Woooho!

It's not healthy to keep it in you when you feel like ranting. Doctors orders. Which is why, I guess, you just vented about the venting.

Actually... if you really think about it. They don't really market in the US nor Japan; yet they've still somehow grown pretty large.

To me, that's indicative that the US is a market that they can afford to not pay that much attention to previously, but that will probably change once they have a mass market device that fits our needs in the US. I think it'll change, but not now and not overnight.

We're (the US market) different than most other places due to the fractured frequencies we support and our needs in a phone.

And it's for those same reasons I haven't purchased a N900 yet. It's not an exact fit to what I'd consider something I'd use for my phone quite yet. As a tablet though, I don't mind hacking it to pieces. I do that with my N810.

The complaints; I don't even mind them any longer. I know know that there is a lot of energy and constructive input that could come from it... if that was what you wanted to do. Otherwise, venting just for venting sakes... why not? It's a public forum. But after a while, wouldn't you want your grievances to have some merit?

Contribute. It might end up fixed in the next firmware release(s).

Hey dude! I really know how it feels buy something in another country and dont get applied for guarantee when necessary, im from ecuador and if my n900 loose the mini-usb it a doom for me! but i was really informed about this problems because I RESEARCH all kind of things abouts pros-cons in the N900, and now i only charge my N900 with a modified charger conector, the two grimps in charger conector that cause the loose of the internal micro-usb i bended and now ny charge conector get in aand out easylly and without push anything, its a rudimentary solution but it works :D
