NeoPwn v2 = BackTrack Mobile!
It's official...
The NeoPwn Mobile Pentesting project is proud to announce that it is merging with BackTrack, to produce the first ever BackTrack Mobile suite! The migration of the NeoPwn project will give way to a sharp development team, focused on fully supporting the Nokia N900 mobile phone. Future plans of the project will extend support for other mobile devices as they become compatible. This is an exciting leap from the original project, as there are incredible improvements in hardware, usability and its open source nature. Community support will be provided and users will be encouraged to take part once the project is released. The OS will be a free download! Preconfigured hardware will be available for purchase on the Neopwn.com website, for those who do not wish to install the OS themselves on the device. And for those that currently have the Nokia N900 mobile phone and who have expressed interest in the second coming of the project - we have a few surprises in store... stay tuned! http://mobile.backtrack-linux.org http://neopwn.com/btm1.png http://neopwn.com/btm2.png |

Re: NeoPwn v2 = BackTrack Mobile!
Waouw...I am a big user of backtrack. Having it on my N900 is really great. I am just wondering if it can double boot maemo and neopwn....

Re: NeoPwn v2 = BackTrack Mobile!
Wonderful! The community cannot wait for this revision of Back Track to come out, the N900 has a huge following base among penetration testers and ethical 'hacker-types'.
Please keep us updated and thank you for your effort! |
Re: NeoPwn v2 = BackTrack Mobile!
Well the N900 is the true Jesus phone...the possibilities are limitless as to what this swiss army knife of a phone can do
|
Re: NeoPwn v2 = BackTrack Mobile!

Re: NeoPwn v2 = BackTrack Mobile!
well, sorry for my limited knowledge, but what would be possible to do with this program ?
|
Re: NeoPwn v2 = BackTrack Mobile!
I'm confused, the webpage says that they will sell hardware that's going to be similar to the n900, so the question is: is NeoPwn a software that's going to be compatible with my current n900 (will it support the default wifi module), or do I have to buy the other piece of hardware?
|
Re: NeoPwn v2 = BackTrack Mobile!
I'm confused. neopwn put this thread under Alternatives and refers to an "OS" being installed. The screen shots look like Maemo 5, however.
Is this truly an Alternative OS, or should I move this thread to "Applications"? |

Re: NeoPwn for N900... :)
Sounds sweet..
Do i read this right ? NeoPwn can be installed as a second os ? Would be nice. I get a 404 when i go to http://mobile.backtrack-linux.org :( |
Re: NeoPwn v2 = BackTrack Mobile!
So my Alfa USB could be used with NeoPwn ?
|
Re: NeoPwn v2 = BackTrack Mobile!
Can you still make/receive phonecalls with this OS?
Will "NetStumbler" be included? |
Re: NeoPwn for N900... :)
I'm guessing it won't dual-boot the N900, but rather run as an application with the Maemo 5 environment. And that is the best idea, I think, because you'd retain your phone functionality while using it... so you never miss a call! =)
P.S. - The title of this thread should be "BackTrack for N900" :) |
Re: NeoPwn for N900... :)
wow.... i read this whole thread.. went the website link... and nowhere either in the thread or at neopwns actual website (tthat i could find) does it state anywhere what the product actually does. then i went to wikipedia. all so cumbersome. i'm still not quite sure. is it an os ? or a network intrusion testing program ?

EDIT: My guess is that they've built a custom kernel as well, although at least one custom build is already available in -devel. |

BTW There's an official thread/announcement here... (Created after this one) :) And it's an OS, so to use it You would probably install it as a secondary OS (maybe on external memory card) and boot into it... ;) EDIT -> Look at the NeoPwn website: http://neopwn.com/...: Quote:

Re: NeoPwn for N900... :)

|

Re: NeoPwn v2 = BackTrack Mobile!
A release date for this would be great, will beta testers be required :D

It might be the case that an external wifi adapter isn't required (the only clue here is the wait/cough comment), or perhaps someone has figured out how to get USB host mode working. What is your take on this - please elaborate. |
