Phone Randomly Launches
I don't know if anyone else has this problem but I've started experiencing this after the PR1.1 update.
The phone app would randomly launch. It seems completely random when this would happen. When it happens, the phone app is not in the background and I'd be in conversations or web browser or even just the desktop and all of a sudden the phone app launches. Also I'm having issues with the phone app's orientation. Alot of the time the phone app would orientate itself the wrong way and after doing some operation on it it would re-orientate the right way. Anyone else having this problem? Although not a major issue, it's very annoying... |
Re: Phone Randomly Launches
Within the top drop-down menu in the phone app, select turning control. What is the state of "Launch by turning"? From this screen you should also be able to toggle forced portrait mode.

Re: Phone Randomly Launches
it is in forced portrait mode... and it still randomly goes to landscape
has anyone also noticed that even if forced portrait mode is on, you slide open the keyboard and it goes to landscape? more importantly... it's the random phone launch that's driving me nuts... |

What is the state of "Launch by turning"?

Re: Phone Randomly Launches
Any chance you are holding camera button half pressed for second or two ? I noticed this launches the phone and is very easy to do at any time since the button has very light touch.

Re: Phone Randomly Launches
I have the camkey installed, which let me see the running programms when i press it, does it also launch the phone also? but i just tried, half-pressing it for a few seconds doesn't launch the phone app...
also i'm not saying auto-landscape is bad, that's what i want too :) launch by turning is set to on... although it seems to make no difference what i set it to |
Re: Phone Randomly Launches
isn't camkeyd an app that was included to shortkeyd? I suggest you remove it and see for a while does the random phone launches disappear.

Re: Phone Randomly Launches
My N900 also occasionally randomly launches. And, occasionally, while carrying the phone in my pocket, it has dialed a contact by itself. One contact called back and suggested I keep the phone in "lock" position when it is pocketed. But it would be good to have a better understanding and solution to this situation.

Re: Phone Randomly Launches
What state of the phone application is launching? Cause I've noticed that I was able atleast prior PR1.1 to start the contacts list by starting to type after launching a new program. This functionality is somewhat intended, as you can launch the contacts list within your desktop by just starting to type a name. If you press FN and a number, it starts the phone application. Not having the issue anymore as I now eagerly wait a bit longer to start typing. Are you sure that you aren't facing the problem only when interacting with the phone?

Re: Phone Randomly Launches
LOL just while we are on the subject the thing that drives me insane about the phone is when i click on the blue phone icon then click contacts then click the contact it automatically starts dialing the number eg if i have clicked the wrong one by mistake there is little or no time to click the end button quickly enough to prevent the call i wish ohhhhhh how i wish like the other phones instad of there just being a tab for "speaker" and "end call" they had a tab for "start call" or even plain simple "call" would do rather then it automatically calling the contact i have clicked on :0(

No magnets. Could there be another cause?

Re: Phone Randomly Launches
when the phone app launches, it just shows the default view, i.e. the view that shows the call history list.
