Re: live wallaper
No, and I filed a bug about it a long time ago.
|
Re: live wallaper
Umm... We are working on it ;) (the support for live wallpapers)
|
Re: live wallaper
It's going to allow any window (even xv) to be either in front (with transparency) or in the background of the home screen. you will also receive clicks. So, you can develop now and when we release the support, you can convert your window to be a live wallpaper pretty quickly. Happy hacking!

Re: live wallaper
There is already a "live-wallpaper" application in extras-devel but I haven't tested it yet.
Is that yours? |
Re: live wallaper
Can install that beacuse of libhildon version..
|
Re: live wallaper
Got it installed, it has a sample live wallpaper, but it doesn't seem to be working properly (might be because of the changes in PR1.2).
If anyone wants to try it out here you go. http://mohammadag.ucoz.com/maemo/liv..._0.1_armel.deb If it says something about dependencies apt-get -f install. Not responsible for any damage that happens :) |
Re: live wallaper
MohammadAG
what does it do for you? dare I suggest it "works for me".. |
Re: live wallaper

It doesn't work properly on PR1.1.1 since it requires PR1.2, but when the background gets blurred the static background is shown (so it won't appear in the menu or when the status bar is opened). Try it, it shouldn't hard the device, much :P (jk) |
Re: live wallaper
mo,
mine installed from extras-devel ;) |
Re: live wallaper
may i ask what is meant by live wallpaper?, does this mean like a video?.I only ask because i once saw an app running on an android handset that refreshed the desktop from a webcam.Pretty cool i thought considering all the free to watch webcams on the go.
|
Re: live wallaper
technically it can be anything :)
its just another method of using the background area of the desktop developers can use it for live whole desktop effects or just for changing a picture every now and then. |
Re: live wallaper
cheers, would love the webcam idea how would i request it and who from?.Thats if request can be made lol.
|
Re: live wallaper
Oh I just noticed! konttori closed my bug as "Fixed" now! I'm dying to see how this works.
|
Re: live wallaper
Cool, can you make more moving wallpapers? Like the moving galaxy on the Nexus. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cKchi0eMqeI

Re: live wallaper
mr. incredible.
whilst not a live wallpaper, it certainly is living download liqflow. perhaps we can make use of the dynamics and possibly even direct rendering. |
Re: live wallaper
Hasn't xfree86/freedesktop.org always been able to run apps in the 'root' of the desktop (that is, where your desktop image normally shows up). Desktop wallpaper in X was always a matter of simply loading a graphical viewer as root to show a desktop image. Just not understanding why, if the N900 is now running xorg, that this seems challenging instead of trivial.

Re: live wallaper
Hi guys,
This is my second post on the board and I came over to share a little tool that I have stumbled upon that I thought might be cool if it could be implimented on maemo some how. Anyways this thread seems more appropiate for it I guess? It is appears to be a simple HTML/Java tool for animated backgrounds and banners for panaramic images with little interaction features. http://www.spritely.net/documentation/ My first thaought was an Aquirium desktop of sorts. Seems pretty cool. IMO |

Re: live wallaper
Does it work on all four screens?
Does it stop when the device is locked (black screen) to save energy? Is it possible to have a smoother animation? |
Nice moving wallpapers on 900 (video)
I just saw this video of a animated wallpaper running on the N900, I just wanted to share my excitement, It is probably bad for the battery and performance but at least you can show off to your android 2.1 friends with animated backgrounds!
I still dont know if its loopalbe, gonna try it now Just imagine a matrix one with actual falling glyphs! :) http://dailymobile.se/2010/04/15/vid...ive-wallpaper/ cheers! PS. not taking credit for making, publishing or discovering it! |

It works on one screen ( in current version). Do you need animation in all screens? Quote:

it's in extras testing?
that was fast, I'm excited too but I never thought it would be ready for end users so soon. thats a big step for maemo, at least in my eyes |
Re: live wallaper
Thanks for the nice wallpaper.
Not much happening on the Berlin theme, is it? Some clouds moving and the traffic light switching. Anything I miss? |
