[Maemo 5] Can the N900 run Pokemon DS games?
n900 is similar in everywhere to Nintendo DSL (DSi), such as touch screen, physical keyboard. is that possible to run pokemon?
|
Re: can n900 run Pokemon?
how is the n900 "similar in everywhere (Everyway)" Where is the the second touch screen on the N900?
|
Re: can n900 run Pokemon?
Sadly, I fear that this one is not a troll.
Through emulators, you can play gameboy (red, blue, yellow, silver, gold, crystal) and gameboy advance (ruby, sapphire, emerald, leaf green, fire red) games. No, the DS cannot be emulated at anything remotely resembling playable speeds EDIT: I can't help but feel that an n900 is not the device for you |
Re: can n900 run Pokemon?
I wish my parents would have bought me expensive electronics when I was his age.

Re: can n900 run Pokemon?
Can probably play the GBA version of Pokemon!
I like cake. |
Re: can n900 run Pokemon?
Haven't you seen the commercial?
The N900 IS a pokemon... |
Re: can n900 run Pokemon?
Actually thats one thing I am puzzled about. Surely its possible to emulate the DS full speed ons something like the N900 due to both being ARM based. Its just all the talented programmers seem to be coding strictly x86 rather than ARM.

1) Not all processors are made equal - emulation would probably still be needed to make code run. This code was never designed to run on any other processor than the DS ones. 2) You'd need to emulate two processors, not just one. I don't know if you could just provide a wrapper to run all the code on the same processor. 3) The N900 really isn't all that suited to DS Emulation - I can't imagine a sensible way to fit both displays on the screen in portrait mode, for example. 4) Finally: this is the free software world. If you want something, do it ;) I'm not having a dig here, but if you want something done you still need to do it or pay for it. If other people were interested they'd already have a project going. That last bit isn't negative either - there's loads of resources online. Why not hack something together and see how it goes? |
Re: [Maemo 5] Can the N900 run Pokemon DS games?
The GBA can't be emulated properly yet let alone the DS :p
And since when does the DS have a keyboard o.O |

Re: [Maemo 5] Can the N900 run Pokemon DS games?
I believe the N900 can absolutely emulate the DS/i. Stylus + portrait mode + camera + ARM processor. Its just a question of who's willing to dev it.
The only bummer will be the relatively small two windows in portrait mode.. Oh well. I'd have a PSX emulator any day :D ________ PREGNANT MASTURBATION |
Re: [Maemo 5] Can the N900 run Pokemon DS games?
It's a very good idea...Although not easy to develop.
But the idea is the first step. Perhaps in next gen Maemo/Meego device it would be possible. |
Re: [Maemo 5] Can the N900 run Pokemon DS games?
How are emulators developed anyway? I guess that's a question for Zod..

Re: [Maemo 5] Can the N900 run Pokemon DS games?
i'm waiting for the NDSI emulater

Re: [Maemo 5] Can the N900 run Pokemon DS games?
thats a cool idea...
i know two programs, that can emulate the ds on linux... DeSmuME and iDeaS and on win xp No$GBA work very nice |
Re: [Maemo 5] Can the N900 run Pokemon DS games?
well, a mac can run windows, so why shouldnt a pc be able to run mac os? :D
anyway, technically, the n900 definitely can run ds-games (judging from the raw hardware-power, that is) its more on psp-level than on ds-level. and with 1 screen having a resolution of 256*192 pixels, you could even show both screens on the n900 display with one of them being touch-sensitive. with the keyboard you could even map the ds-buttons. although in landscape-mode you couldnt have the screens on top of each other but next to each other. |

i tried desmume on n900 but it wasn't optimized and worked really really slow, not usable, avarege of 2-8 fps.

Re: [Maemo 5] Can the N900 run Pokemon DS games?
