Re: abnormal battery behaviour..

It sounds like you've got a process that's running away and keeping your cpu occupied.
Reboot and see if the same behavior persists.

You should be able to find out which process it is by using 'top' in terminal.

Re: abnormal battery behaviour..

what kind of car charger do you have?

V + mA / A information is required before one can do further assumptions.

could you please answer this simple question before you go further? because it could render rest of the speculation totally useless.

wall charger is 5v 350ma output.. its a standard nokia charger and i use the adapter with it.

Re: abnormal battery behaviour..

5v 350mA is not much, and after the adapter, even less... Internet radio and gps use will most definitely consume more power than that charger can provide.

Edit:
Yeah with 350mA charge through the adapter, it starts making more sense.

And also, the details on your car charger would still be useful to have..

If it's as weak as your wall charger setup, then internet radio and gps will use more power than the car charger can provide.

Theoretically if the adapter was 100 percent efficient, which it isn't, and the N900 did not consume power (but it does), it'd take 4-6 hours to charge. The adapter isn't that efficient in my experience, so 6-10 hours wouldn't surprise me.

Re: abnormal battery behaviour..

Sometimes it takes a little over one hour to charge my phone. Other times it takes hours. I just make it a habit to turn the phone off and also pull battery out at least once a day. Might be overkill but I have read enough things and experienced enough to not do it. I use the charger that came with the phone and I use some sprint charger while in my car. Hope I help.

well, your USB -port gives 5V 500mA and I consider it a bit slow.

my charger that charges through adapter is 5.7V 800mA.

So it is your wallcharger 1750mW vs mine 4560mW.
Mine charges the battery from empty to full in about 3 hours. yours require theoretically 7,8 hours but it is possible your charger never manages to charge your device very far....

Re: abnormal battery behaviour..

The original wall charger Nokia AC-10 is 5V 1200mA, iirc.
The original Nokia DC-10 car charger is 5V 1200mA.

There's a weaker Nokia microusb car charger too.
