Having used an iPhone for 2 years, playing games using the accelerometer just plain sucks. You have to be sitting upright, and have to be directly over the screen. It's only good for a 'cool' factor, moving the entire screen to control a game is not practical. |

Re: 3D games with accelerometer
You won't find many other mainstream developers making 3D games for the N900 (i.e EA, I-play etc). I've tried contacting quite a few who make decent games for Nokia's symbian platform, and they have all ruled out developing for Maemo.
The main reasons has always been, - Only N900 currently using the Maemo Platform - Number of units sold is not easily determined - Routes to market are unclear - Difficult to justify allocating resources to it They have all expressed an interest in Nokia's on-going development, suggesting we may look forward to them developing for future Meego handsets. Take nothing away from the guys who have been developing games within the repos, they are unsung heros :) |

I'm not as young as I once was when I bought that old n900 mobile computer. By then I was a young man with a lot of hope for the future where open sourced linux would take over the smartphone market and rule the world. But then the cruel reality hit me and the evil world of apples and droids attacked the planet defeating all resistance. My dreams about 3D games on the maemo platform was shattered into pieces and the hopes for a better life was lost in oblivion. |
