Re: OVI MAP LOADER UPDATE - fake

post is fake because it is no news: ovi maps loader has worked on the n900 since it was released.

abuse of caps in post title - check.

announced != released.

also, there _is_ a map loader version that works with the N900. you have to get it from the nokiausa.com site, don't know why it's only available there, but it works!

see http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=38872

The maploader on there is identical to the one downloadable from elsewhere (I've checked file size & md5sum). It's the same Nokia Map Loader v3.0.28.0 which has been available for months.

no, it's not.

i had to surf to nokiausa.com specifically, because nokia.de only offered an older, incompatible version.

that was 3 weeks ago.

no map loader working at least for devices shipped to greece. either vista, xp or windows 7-crosschecked.

Well, I've just redownloaded and it's still the identical file I got from Nokia UK site late last year.

Re: OVI MAP LOADER UPDATE - fake

the map loader keep saying me that it's either an obsolete version of ovi maps, or that i've never opened it 0_0
they say to try in mass storage mode, and when you do this, they say to connect on pc suite mode...
WTF ?

Re: OVI MAP LOADER UPDATE - fake

It took a few tries but it seems to be working. I am on a Mac and had to first plug in the USB cable, select PC Suite Mode, and then start up the map loader. It has been running for about 1.75 hours and is about 45% through step 1, deleting the old map files. It says it can take a long time and it means it. I will post more when I have some results, one way or the other.

Re: OVI MAP LOADER UPDATE - fake

It works fine for me on XP - connect in mass storage mode and then launch it. Apparently there's issues on Vista and Win 7 though.

el3ctronick 2010-03-04 18:40

Re: OVI MAP LOADER UPDATE - fake

they removed the link from the main maemo page.. :P
so its not working 100%

if you're having problems with windows 7, try this:

http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...9&postcount=34

also, could someone merge this thread into that one?
