Phone wont turn on. Solid orange light when USB charger connected
I woke up this morning and my phone wasn't turned on and there was an solid orange light on the front.
I've tried leaving the battery out for 5 minutes and also trying to turn the phone on with and without the battery in while a USB charger is connected but it wont turn on. Any suggestions? |

If it won't charge the battery in the phone then you'll need to charge it externally - either a desktop charger or a compatible phone (e.g. Nokia 5800).

Re: Phone wont turn on. Solid orange light when USB charger connected
This happened to me as well after the battery died, try popping the battery out with no cable attached, then put it back together. Mine then powered up just fine.

Re: Phone wont turn on. Solid orange light when USB charger connected
One problem is that if you leave the phone on the charger with a steady (non-blinking) LED then this will actually suck juice from the battery and deep-discharge it. At least that's what happened to my battery after the story with the failed on-air upgrade.

Re: Phone wont turn on. Solid orange light when USB charger connected
At times, static is stored within phone w/o battery; as once I was told by Sony Ericsson tech rep. Though this is N900; I'm recommending what I was told to do for such issue. Remove battery, press & hold power button (yes without battery) for about 5-10 seconds. Recharge battery in a similar different phone (5800) or at the best shot with same phone.

Re: Phone wont turn on. Solid orange light when USB charger connected
I had this same issue about a week ago. The issue turned out to be (in my case) not having sufficient power going to the device (I was using the USB hooked to my computer through a hub.) After plugging it directly into one of the computer's ports and letting it sit for a few minutes, it charged up just fine and was able to boot.

Re: Phone wont turn on. Solid orange light when USB charger connected
I already tried reflashing it but N900 just stays silent (no lights or annything else) tried with and without battery, tried plugin usb before battery, tried with and without simcard)
I tried leaving it charging all night but there is no change I tried charging battery with another phone (5800) but N900 still stays silent. I tried removing battery and pressing power button for a few seconds. (with/without wall charger pluged in) As i sayed i tried on USB and wall charger (tried 2 different wall charger and 2 different batteries) but didn't change annything I still don't understand how it happened as i just left N900 running out of power and shut down. Since it happened i cant power it up / charge / flash As i said it seems to be dead. I didn't have time to get it back to Nokia Care today, i'll tell you when i know more about this problem |

@phantoom: See the link that Moloch provided.
If that doesn't help: Do you see the Nokia logo when you press 'u' and install the USB cable? If not, then you will need to 'cold flash'. And even if you do, if nothing else works, you may still need to 'cold flash'. If so, try this: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...5&postcount=51 |

Re: Phone wont turn on. Solid orange light when USB charger connected
The same problem happened to me. I've had my N900 since nov (uk here) woke one morning and no power & solid LED.
1st i took it to a nokia care point.... no luck. 2nd sent it off to nokia repair 3 weeks later N900 returned fixed... so i thought! Woke up next morning and same thing had happened!! To say i was cheesed off was an understatement!!!! 3rd rung nokia straight back complaining about their customer service, repair quality control etc etc.... It took them another week before they sent someone to collect it. Another 2 weeks passed & i was issued with a new N900! So my advice would be to send it off, demand a new one and prepare for a long wait!! Oh i hope you've backed up your data? I didn't! Another crucial mistake!!!:o |
Re: Phone wont turn on. Solid orange light when USB charger connected

Re: Phone wont turn on. Solid orange light when USB charger connected
Hi All,
I know this is an old thread but I am facing the same problem. The issue started when I removed the battery and put it back in. It booted but with black screen (nothing on the lcd) I just heard the nokia sound. I opened it up checked the cable tested it in another N900 worked fine but this one remains dead. When connected to charges or usb steady orange led lights up doesnt go off. Am using win7 with drivers working. I managed to flash the other phone easily but this one can not even go into flashing mode. I have ubuntu desktop but in a portable flash. What can be the fix for this? Please help. Am in Malawi and No nokia support here plus the phone is old had it since 2011. |
