Nokia "Next G" Tablet
If Nokia released a "Next G" compatible tablet, would you:
A. Upgrade to it from an N900 B. [Wait, and] Buy it instead of an N900 C. Stick with my N900 D. None of the above Please vote on the poll and feel free to discuss. Also, can someone let me know if Telstra is the only Operator that supports Next G coverage?? Thanks |
Re: Nokia "Next G" Tablet

Re: Nokia "Next G" Tablet
To everyone who's wondering what the heck "Next G" is.. It's a brand name of Telstra's Australian 3G network that operates on frequencies the N900 doesn't support. Obviously not available in Finland so I'll pass. :)

H
It's got nice symmetry and it's right next to G in both alphabets and keyboards. |
Re: Nokia "Next G" Tablet
I would go for it if it is the same size as N900 but with bigger screen (leaving very less space like HTC HD2) with 854x480 resolution, little thinner and a bit more powerful hardware spec and more.... Ya, I'm a dreamer :D

Re: Nokia "Next G" Tablet
Telstra 'nextG' is a long range 3G network built on a non standard frequency. Telstra built the first long range 3G network in australia and the it appears they chose a non standard frequency in order to increase the barrier customers would face in they decided to 'churn'. There have always been a limited choice of devices for nextG due to the non-standard frequency.
I prefer not to use next G because i find the whole idea of using a non standard frequency just so your competitors cant use the same frequency a proposition that does not appeal to me. Some people live in areas where sadly next g is their only option, but i do not. |

Re: Nokia "Next G" Tablet
That's right, apparently the 850mhz frequency has a bit more reach for the same amount of juice, which is a plus when you've got an expansive land mass, low population density and you're trying to cover as much of it as possible.
I'd never go with Telstra though... Funny how even their competitors, who have to rent Telstra's infrastructure, are still able to offer better value for money. |
Re: Nokia "Next G" Tablet
Won't bother. We won't see the technology in Canada before the N900 is very long in the tooth.

Re: Nokia "Next G" Tablet
I would buy it and keep my n900.. =]
