Problem with Application Manager on N900
Hi,
On my Nokia N900,if i go to Application Manager and click on Update or Download, i get a message "Checking for updates, please wait" and then nothing happens. The Application catalogs on my phone are Nokia Applications,Nokia System Software Updates,Ovi,maemo.org,Maemo Extras. On the phone i connect to the Internet using the Wifi on my laptop and im able to browse websites. But im facing the above problem with the Application manager. The firmware version on my phone is 3.2010.02-8. Any way to fix the problem ? Please help. Thank You |
Re: Problem with Application Manager on N900
Disable Maemo Extras.
It's the same thing as the maemo.org repository. Let me know if that solves the problem or not. |
Re: Problem with Application Manager on N900
Thanks for the reply xomm. But disabling maemo extras didnt work ! :( . Below are the repositories in the Application Catalog on my phone :

Nokia System Software Updates : https://downloads.maemo.nokia.com/freemantle/ssu/mr0 Distribution : ./ 3. Ovi : https://downloads.maemo.nokia.com/freemantle/ovi/ Distribution : ./ 4. maemo.org : http://repository.maemo.org/extras/ Distribution : freemantle Components : free non-free 5. Maemo Extras : http://repository.maemo.org/extras/ Distribution : Components : free non-free 6. maemo.org extras-testing : http://repository.maemo.org/extras-testing Distribution : freemantle Components : free non-free |

Im sorry, that was a typo . Yes, it is Fremantle. Are the repository url's correct ?

Re: Problem with Application Manager on N900
The only difference I have is for Nokia SSU, the last 3 characters are 002.
But that's only because I'm in a different region (North America) The only other thing I can think of is -devel apps or other apps. Have you installed anything from maemo.org extras-devel or done any terminal work? Basically, have you done anything that could have been deemed systematically risky? |
Re: Problem with Application Manager on N900
Thanks xomm, the problem is solved. There was an issue with name resolution on the phone, because i was using the wifi on my laptop. So, i added the google dns servers to resolv.conf on the phone and now everything works ! :) .

Re: Problem with Application Manager on N900
sorry because i have a problem with name resolution too, you have changed the file resolv.conf or the settings in the Connexions → advanced → IP address ?

Re: Problem with Application Manager on N900
I am also now just having this problem. @ first i was wondering what i did and then all of a sudden it started working again. I think the app that is messing with my app manager is the 'Desktop Activity' that saves your desktop. Thats the only thing i can think off at the moment that has messed with it. Ever since i put that app in it has started to give app manager problems. I just dont understand as to why it sometimes works and sometimes it doesnt.
I think it only works when i reboot the phone.=/ any ideas anyone? I am going to probably uninstall that app but thats weird because i thought that app was already in extras now. -MASTER |
