download the redalert .deb from RED Alert deb file install this. Then download the game files game files Now make a folder in Home / user / MyDocs / openredalert/ and then copy the 2 files to the openredalert folder. restart phone and click on the icon in menu and it will start. original link http://nokia.hdblog.it/2010/03/05/ec...alert-su-n900/ |
Re: Command & Conquer Red Alert N900
Don't bother, only skirmish somewhat works and it crashes if anyone uses tesla coil. It sometimes hangs on start too and you need to click on powerbutton and try to get access to a terminal and then kill it with killall -9 openredalert.

Re: Command & Conquer Red Alert N900
Does it have, or might it be possible to have network functions in a later update?
|
Re: Command & Conquer Red Alert N900
i got it to work but only skirmish works no single player???
|
Re: Command & Conquer Red Alert N900
How can i run the game from xterminal and specify a new screen resolution? I would like to run the game in full screen; is it possible... Thanks
|
Re: Command & Conquer Red Alert N900
Got it working, but it seams that you need to set keyboardlayout to English.
But, how to right-click? You cant cancel things you build without right-click. |
Re: Command & Conquer Red Alert N900
Yay! Reading all this makes we wanna skip this one for now.
Seems like a rough quick port and never got any further attention. Pitty. :) |
Re: Command & Conquer Red Alert N900
Any one know if you can access som configfile to edit?
|
Re: Command & Conquer Red Alert N900
anything new here? i would love to play RA on my N900
are the setup steps/files still the same? |
Re: Command & Conquer Red Alert N900
It's already available, have a look at the last few pages of the OS2008 version, smoku has posted up an N900 version that works.
|
Re: Command & Conquer Red Alert N900
absolutly gutted smoku pulled his deb from github,
gona try the older 1 see how it works from the OS2008 thread also would love to see the original C&C on me phone i would die a happy man |
Re: Command & Conquer Red Alert N900
cant believe smoku went mardy and took his links down either. what a child.
has anyone else got the deb to upload? had it but deleted it :( i and others wiould be very grateful |
Re: Command & Conquer Red Alert N900

Re: Command & Conquer Red Alert N900
many thanks

Re: Command & Conquer Red Alert N900
Does anyone know if its possible to add your own maps? i had some darn nice maps made in the good old days and would love to play them on my n900.
I thought there was a way to open the .MIX files and put them in there? Update.... I found it... this is the link. http://xhp.xwis.net/utilities/XCC_Utilities.exe there are several programs in there with one you can open mix files and with mixer you can open the mix files and extract them to where you want. this is handy because the mix files contain again mix files. now i only need to find the maps! Rules.ini is in the redalert.mix and then local.mix file. the rules.ini file is for adjusting things like damage for units amount of money it wil cost and that kind of stuff... still looking for the maps though |
Re: Command & Conquer Red Alert N900
The few games in skirmish I played were hard, clicking seems to be buggy and the AI often just goes brain dead :(
This looks like it would be a very nice addition to what the n900 runs. The iPhone red alert 3 is rubbish. |
Re: Command & Conquer Red Alert N900
The files are in main.mix and then general.mix for the missions. but i dont know where to put the own made maps
|
Re: Command & Conquer Red Alert N900
Played this for a bit last night and had the battery temp up to 55 degrees C within half an hour (locked at 1150...had to drop my max in xterm to 805 for fear of starting a fire).
Would love full functionality as lack or right click means you cant cancel structures once you've started to build. Also getting the attack cursor (rather than the move cursor) can be quite hard sometimes (especially getting harvesters to harvest). Having the full game would be wicked but fully functioning skirmish would do me just fine : ) |
Re: Command & Conquer Red Alert N900
the free ra on the 1st post in the OS2008 command and conquer thread apparently has a right click by holding the stylus for a few secs
im gona have a go at installing it and seeing how the main campaign works im hopeing for all the vids but im not expecting any lol |
Re: Command & Conquer Red Alert N900
Theres no videos or music unfortunately :(
Has anyone tried running Red Alert through DOS Box at all? |

Re: Command & Conquer Red Alert N900
got command and conquer nod disc working realy well on psx4m music and fmv audio is stuttery but in game sound fx's are spot on.
gona try redalert in a bit but still a shame about the main audio i love the music and the main storyline makes thre game. i hope a programmer takes this up they would be legendary |
Re: Command & Conquer Red Alert N900
with 1100 mhz my phone keeps quite cool and i have 60 FPS but it would be great to have a right mouse button with a key combo like shift click or something. and an ingame speed increase.
I just mentioned that the game crashes to desktop when screen goes black. more people encounter this? |
Re: Command & Conquer Red Alert N900
the right mouse button is not working can it be fixed some how?
|
Re: Command & Conquer Red Alert N900
A long time without news on this game.
Is this port based on Open Red Alert? Anyone willing to try to make a working build for Maemo? |
Re: Command & Conquer Red Alert N900
2 things worth noting:
1) The games have been available as free download from the dev site for some time (is it still the case? could this be used to have redalert-data package upped to repos? if yes to both = awesome especially considering point... 2) Latest release Release 20120315 so the development is ongoing. This could mean high quality software joining the repos. Any takers? |
Re: Command & Conquer Red Alert N900
Freecnc which compiles nicely on maemo sadly is in unplayable state, openredalert I'm afraid same situation (last update 3 yrs ago), openRA depends heavily on mono and got me this with 2.10 libs installed:
OpenRA.FileFormats/FieldLoader.cs(121,79): error CS0589: Internal compiler error during parsing OpenRA.FileFormats/Support/Stopwatch.cs(23,68): error CS0589: Internal compiler error during parsing OpenRA.FileFormats/Support/Timer.cs(22,39): error CS0589: Internal compiler error during parsing OpenRA.FileFormats/ColorRamp.cs(39,41): error CS0589: Internal compiler error during parsing Compilation failed: 4 error(s), 0 warnings make: *** [OpenRA.FileFormats.dll] Error 1 |
