Formula 1 live timing -- live-f1

Now that the F1 season is starting i would really love to have live timing displayed in my N900.

I kept digging the web/forum and found app called live-f1. It is made for Ubuntu and has previously been ported atleast for N770.

I tried downloading the deb-file that supposedly used to work with N770. It installed fine into my N900 but when trying to log in to the live-timing it keeps saying that login request failed: Method not allowed

Could some nice programmer take a look at it and see if it could be fixed for N900?

Re: Formula 1 live timing -- live-f1

Just spotted this bug report (with fix) filed earlier today:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=573733

(nb: not tested it myself)

[update]: Just tried the version in the maemo repository - the password isn't shown on the screen when you type it in (presumably for security), but if you enter it and press return it's accepted and you can see the stats. I guess the debian bug fix mentioned above is already incorporated or formula1.com has just been updated so it's not necessary.

So you tried giving your formula1.com live timing accounts login details and it failed? They are only asked once and if you gave them incorrectly I'm guessing action is as you described above.

You can ensure that your login details are correct by looking into file /home/user/.f1rc.
If they are incorrect removing the file lets you set them again in app.

[Edit]
It is possible to get more detailed information from your problem if you launch the program from terminal with command: live-f1 -v

installed, opened, asking for emali and pw, then it worked. but would be nice to have a widget showing some actuall happenings from f1.

don't know about windows, but using linux you can SSH into your N900 and access the file system (you need to have SSH sever installed on your N900)

I'm guessing there is a windows equivalent.

Re: Formula 1 live timing -- live-f1

yep. In Windows the propably best way is WinSCP. You also have to install ssh server on n900 and then connect via network an winscp to your phone.

Run command below from terminal. That should do the trick.
Code:

rm /home/user/.f1rc

I see formula1.com are promoting a mobile app that's currently not available for the N900: http://mobile.formula1.com/download

There's a link where you can add your email address to be notified if/when a compatible version is released. Note that they don't ask you what your mobile device is, so fill in your email address using your N900 (not using a PC) as presumably they're using http user-agent detection to identify devices.

registered ..... fingers crossed enough n900 users sign up ...... is it woth you setting up a new post with a title like 'signup to help get n900 supported in formula 1' so that everyone reads about the signup page on the first post .... will get more signups then which i hope would mean more chance of support for n900?????

I've downloaded the N97 version (I just picked what I guessed was the best Nokia phone version) which is a java mobile (j2me) application, which seems to work with MicroEmulator on the N900.

You need to install Java SE embedded:
http://java.sun.com/javase/embedded/

Then install MicroEmulator:
http://www.microemu.org/

Then the F1 JAR:
http://mobile.formula1.com/download/...7/Formula1.jar

Then run the F1 app in MicroEmulator.

App worked almost flawlessly.
One bug found however, sector 2 splits didn't show up at all. Any chance for someone looking at it if there's something that can be done for it?

Here's screenshot from my live-f1 running, all 24 cars fit nicely into the screen:
- Xterminal in fullscreen mode (http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...5&postcount=88)
- Font is Droid Sans Mono, size 12

To clarify, times below sector 2 are actually times from sector 3. So sector 2 times missing...

this is not a bug by this app,

i compared it with the browser version from formula1.com
and there was also a missing row

Actually it seems that in http://www.formula1.com/live_timing/live_timing.html all the sectors are shown, they are not just aligned properly into columns.
Eg. For Alonso's final lap split times are 32.1, 64.6 and 24.2. live-f1 shows only first and last sector. Screenshot from formula1.com live timing below.

As root, "apt-get install -f" will fix the missing dependencies if they're available in your configured repositories (as configured in App manager). If they're not available, it'll prompt you to remove the f1 app; you can say "no" if you want and add the necessary repositories and then try "apt-get install -f" again.

hello fellow f1 fans.

i was hoping someone could tell me if they were able to use live-f1 today during the australian gp.

i used this app for most of the 2010 season and never had a problem but today the would just shutdown on start up.

I cheked my login details and even deleted them a few times and tried again. yet it is still not starting up. when doing it xterminal i get this mesage

/opt/maemo/usr/bin/live-f1: login request failed: Server certificate verification failed: issuer is not trusted

If someone could help that would be great. thanks
