N900 Died yesterday. It does not power on. Stuck on the circles
I need help. Yesterday when I woke up my n900 was off. I tried to turn it on and just the nokia logo appeared then the dots but only for one second the most. After that the phone does black then it shuts down. Everytime I turn it on this happens. I did everything possible. I am using windows XP 32-bit. I downloaded flasher 3.5. I did the enable-rd-mode. I did the disable-rd-mode...nothing happens. I downloaded the vanilla file nothing happens. My computer does recognize the phone but when I put this "flasher-3.5.exe -F RX-51_2009SE_1.2009.41-1.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM.bin -f -R" the phone restarts and it says "device not found"
Please note. I spent more than 6 hours trying to figure this out but I need help. I tried this: You better connect phone to computer and then take out battery so power is gone. So while phone connected you press u on the phone and insert battery at the SAME time, now you should see the usb icon in upper right on your phone screen not with much light, you are now ready to run flash commands. Remember to save the two files for flashing (OS and eMMC vanilla content) in same folder as flasher tool. http://forums.internettablettalk.com...ad.php?t=35631 Flashing tool: http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/maemo-d...-downloads.php OS and eMMC files: http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/nokia_N900.php Start flasher and copy then paste in command: flasher-3.5.exe -F RX-51_2009SE_1.2009.41-1.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM.bin -f -R When done phone reboots amd locks again you flash OS with command: flasher-3.5.exe -F RX-51_2009SE_1.2009.42-11_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin -f -R and this: http://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_tablet_firmware this too: http://discussions.nokiausa.com/t5/M...ing/m-p/593949 I would appreciate any help. |
Re: N900 Died yesterday. It does not power on. Stuck on the circles
Yeh i had this problem with win7 XP mode, make sure you are connected to net, when you see "device not found" goto device manager and find the phone and update/install drivers, its a different set of drivers its normally installed with flasher.
I think mine autodownloaded "update mode drivers" i cannot fully remember but try it |
Re: N900 Died yesterday. It does not power on. Stuck on the circles
I tried that and I does not show or updates anything. The phone just keeps restarting. When I press the U it just gets stuck on the nokia logo with the USB on the right top corner.
Any other suggestions will be appreciate it. |

I seriously need your help guys.
Anybody? |
Re: N900 Died yesterday. It does not power on. Stuck on the circles
Try using the flasher to turn on --enable-rd-mode and see if it starts up.
If it does, open the xterminal and try to grab the output of "dmesg." Also, let the battery charge. |

My guess is either your windows driver is screwed up, or your phone is. I hope it's windows. Good luck! |
Re: N900 Died yesterday. It does not power on. Stuck on the circles
Did you start the flasher app on your computer first, before you powered up the N900 and pressed the "U" key to get into flashing mode?
Try starting the flasher app first (it will tell you device not found, waiting for device - or some such thing), THEN power your N900 + U key, THEN plug it into your computer's USB port. If all goes well, flashed should pick up the N900 and start flashing it. |

Re: N900 Died yesterday. It does not power on. Stuck on the circles
Hello experts,
I'm having the exact same problem. Suddenly, my N900 got stuck while powering on. It shows the loading dots but after a second gets dark and turns off, with or without SIM card. While looking for answers, I found this thread but there is something weird with my phone, though. When I turn the N900 off and connect it to USB, it seems to keep reloading. It never stops on the NOKIA logo with the USB image on the right upper corner. Have you noticed this symptom too? At first, I thought that it could be failing POST or something like this. Is it possible? How can I be sure? But then I started thinking that it could be related to any bug condition or something and decided to try reflashing the device. That was when I figured out that it was reloading when connected to USB cable. Now I don't know what to do. Any clues? Serious guys, I need help. |
Re: N900 Died yesterday. It does not power on. Stuck on the circles
When you guys plug your phone to USB cable without the battery, does it shows the yellow led?
I think I might be having a bad contact problem with my cable or my micro usb slot.... |
Re: N900 Died yesterday. It does not power on. Stuck on the circles
I have just plugged in the USB cable into the phone without the battery and absolutely nothing happens, the LED doesn't light up at all.
Sorry I can't help you out otherwise. All I can suggest is to dual boot with some variety of Linux as that seems to be the best environment to flash in. Although I know you say that the phone gets stuck in a reboot loop when you try flashing, so I doubt Linux would help you with that... |
Re: N900 Died yesterday. It does not power on. Stuck on the circles
Ouch! That's really strange, because if I plug the n900 without the battery and start moving the microUSB connector to the sides, the yellow LED goes on and off, like if there was a bad contact. Very strange...
I'll try to plug it into a linux box, but can someone help me to find the correct drivers? thx |
