My Google Calendar (mgCal) developement
1 Attachment(s)
This is a great N8xx app!
I use the Nokia Sans Cn Bold 20 font. Here is a link to the latest version: http://maemo.org/packages/package_in...l/mgcal/0.1-6/ Here is a screenshot from my N800: Attachment 15613 |
Re: My Google Calendar (mgCal) developement
Can it be ported?

Re: My Google Calendar (mgCal) developement
Should this be called a "Forum marketing effort"?

Re: My Google Calendar (mgCal) developement
I must have missed this. I've installed this but come across a few issues straightaway
1) it has crashed my desktop three times in five minutes. Only other stuff on my Desktop are Internet radio, clock (the std one), personal launcher, and Omweather. It is every time it syncs, either automatically or manually. I am also running the Diablo5 theme and telescope. 2) the applet needs to be resizeable - as it takes up far far too much room on my Desktop. 3) I would like the applet to have a transperant background like Omweather or personal launcher for example. the killer features for me would be the ability to have alarms, and most importantly have dialogs to permit adding/removing and editing of calendar entries. This could be great, and I have wanted something like this for a long time, as all of the other calendars are too clunky for me. |

Re: My Google Calendar (mgCal) developement
hey guys, the applet *is* resizeable. This is my first time using it, and unfortunately, I can't get it to sync with my Google calendar. I have my correct credentials in the settings, but the No Data Available message remains.

Re: My Google Calendar (mgCal) developement
hmm, been having another go with this, as it would be cool, but on my 810, it just crashes the desktop hard as soon as I select it. On my 800, I can enter the details but it either does not sync or then crashes hard.

Re: My Google Calendar (mgCal) developement
Must be something to do with my Google calendar. My N800 is pretty stock apart from the CSSU. My 810 does have telescope, and the Diablo5 them, and I thought it may have been one of them.
I have tried it as the only applet on the 800, in case of conflict. It's a real shame, as this could be a very useful addition |
Re: My Google Calendar (mgCal) developement
Still waiting to hear from the developer concerning any future updates.
|
Re: My Google Calendar (mgCal) developement
Developers: See post #1 for link to source code. This app needs to be finished by at least having an auto update feature.
|
Re: My Google Calendar (mgCal) developement
I uploaded a version with implemented autoupdate function.
Please test and give feedback. I can not test this as I have only an N900 and no N8X0. nicolai |

It has never updated on its own. There is not even an update when your first power-up your N800. |
Re: My Google Calendar (mgCal) developement
I know, I looked at the code for version 0.1-4. Only the "auto refresh"
option was in the settings dialog, the auto update function was not implemented. I implemented this and uploaded a new version: http://maemo.org/packages/package_in...l/mgcal/0.1-5/ I just can not test this, as I do not own a N8X0 device. nicolai |
Re: My Google Calendar (mgCal) developement
Is this to get google calendar synced with the built-in calendar? I'm just this minute literally syncing N900 with Google Calendar and that with Thunderbird/lightning, with GC being the middle-man. If this is what i think it is and can be ported to the N900 i'd test it

It just downloads Google-Calendar entries and shows them in a desktop widget. Nicolai |
Re: My Google Calendar (mgCal) developement
Nicolai: I just installed latest version and set the auto refresh time to 1 hour. It should update at 7:52am (my time). Let's see if it works.
|
Re: My Google Calendar (mgCal) developement
Nicolai: After 1 hour there was not a auto update. I am assuming that it would also update the displayed updated time. Also, once the update is working, it would be nice if the displayed update date/time was changed to realtime date/time and in yellow text instead of that faded yellow which looks more like a gold color (see screen shot in post #1)..

Are you sure you are using the right version?
I am not that familiar with python home applets, do you have to restart the device after installation? Btw I already changed the "update date/time" with the current date/time, a clock, which should update every minute. Nicolai This is how it should look like (screenshot from withhin scratchbox) |

Can you now slightly increase font size of Date/Time and make it bright yellow or bright green. Also, even though my google calendar has 12 hour time, the app shows 24 hour time. Can that be selectable? |
Re: My Google Calendar (mgCal) developement
Sure!
Do you think someone (if there are other users of this app) will miss the "updated ..." text in the titlebar. Maybe we should include another text (next to the clock) like " updated xxx min. ago". Any suggestions? nicolai |

A slight improvement (besides font size and color) would be the Date/Time as follows: 11 Nov 2010 09:52am Note that there is no dot after the 11 and text is centered in the window. It would help to display am/pm for 12 hour format. |
Re: My Google Calendar (mgCal) developement
new version 0.1-6
- timeformat 12/24 hours is now configurable - titlebar color changed to yellow Quote:
a differen (smaller) size for the titlebar? Nicolai |

Re: My Google Calendar (mgCal) developement
Nicolai: Thank you for the work that you put into this very valuable applet. I can not think of any more improvements. The bright yellow Date and Time is very easy to see.
