Enna for Nokia N900

I just read this about Enna being ported to the N900.

http://gxben.wordpress.com/2010/03/2...a-n900-is-out/

I can't download it, has anyone checked this out?
How does it work?
Bugs?

Wiki is your friend.

"Enna (software), a media center for Linux developed by the makers of GeeXboX."

Re: Enna for Nokia N900

Homepage of Enna: http://enna.geexbox.org/
Seems nice! And it has a repository for installing the Maemo 5 packages:

Maemo 5 Packages for Nokia N900
Enna is available for your favorite mobile phone. It comes optimized and pre-configured for your mobile to find all your possible multimedia contents. In order to install it, go to Package Manager and add a new repository:

* Name: GeeXboX
* URL: http://packages.geexbox.org
* Distribution: fremantle
* Component: main

Re: Enna for Nokia N900

tried to install, but there seems to be some conflict with package libeina0

MaltedVomit 2010-03-22 19:37

Re: Enna for Nokia N900

im getting the same thing, conflicts with libeina0 and libedbus0.

ya same thing for me. but only libeina0

Re: Enna for Nokia N900

Enna uses enlightment libs, so its possible to conflict with Canola and BlueMaemo.

It is not that slow - the first run freezes and stays in memory with 100% CPU, so the next is slow, but if you kill it after that, its speed is bearable. If they used the 16bit enlightment libs from Canola the speed would be probably better.

Re: Enna for Nokia N900

Installed Enna, everything works fine, except I'm missing Weather and Configuration sections.

MaltedVomit 2010-03-22 20:58

Re: Enna for Nokia N900

thanks bundyo, i had canola installed at one point but not anymore, i also uninstalled bluemaemo and now im getting the same libeina0 only conflict as the others. so it got me one step closer but i still cant install.

I get an error saying some Application Packages are missing. Does any one know how to fix?

How did you do it? Having the same problems.

Re: Enna for Nokia N900

I enabled extras-testing and extras-devel (apparently some of the missing packages are there -- goes with the usual warning of enabling these repositories). Just turn them off after.

Re: Enna for Nokia N900

Works, seems promising, a good start for sure. I'm down to design elements if anybody is in contact with the devs. Things to make this perfect:

1. Auto Rotate
2. Cover art browser
3. Ability to download data from imdb / themoviedb.org for movies / videos
4. Ability to pull lyrics from tunewiki

You can try to uninstall libeina0 from Terminal at least to see which package requires it.

i probably should not do this if i ask how it's done, but...
how do i uninstall from terminal (libeina0 conflict here too)?
thanks

Re: Enna for Nokia N900

apt-get remove libeina0

See which package requires it and then say no and remove it from the app manager. Not sure if that will work though.

Doesn't work for me - i get the response that libeina0 is not even installed but Enna thinks it is! I know basic Linux stuff but don't want to mess around too much. Any more ideas?

AlMehdi 2010-03-25 21:48

Re: Enna for Nokia N900

I also had the problem with the dependencies.. i did a "apt-get autoremove libeina0" which solved it. I have not yet discovered any other programs with problems.

Bundyo 2010-03-26 06:03

Re: Enna for Nokia N900

If autoremove does it, then nothing requires it - its a leftover.

Re: Enna for Nokia N900

well, tried autoremove

a lot of stuff got deleted. but itstill is refusing to install, saying conflict with libeina0

Re: Enna for Nokia N900

I am getting a message that states "Package libeina0 is not installed, so not removed" when I use apt-get remove. However, Enna still refuses to install because of this package. Any ideas?

AlMehdi 2010-03-26 15:02

Re: Enna for Nokia N900

maybe "dpkg -P libeina0" could do it? Really not sure.. "autoremove" is the procedure i took.

Also i made sure i did not have Canola2 or Bluemaemo installed. Those i uninstalled with "dpkg -P"

g.vasilev 2010-03-26 15:15

Re: Enna for Nokia N900

I did the dpkg -P removal however, still getting the error when trying to install. Is there a way that I am able to find out which application is using this package so that I can remove it entirely.

Re: Enna for Nokia N900

Sorry to barge in with a request while you guys are discussing getting it to work, but would anyone mind upping a few screenies of the program itself? :)

I'm alwats interested in stuff like this and the official (?) site doesn't really even give me an idea of what this is like ... :\

Does anyone have a Wordpress account to contact this guy and ask him to get the app into Devel?

Maybe if you try to download the libeina-package from the repo and manually install it with dpkg -i?

Code:

wget http://packages.geexbox.org/pool/main/e/eina/libeina-svn-05_0.9.9.063-3maemo1_armel.deb /home/user/MyDocs/Downloads/

Re: Enna for Nokia N900

hi..

got the same libeina0 error... and tried all the above solutions

but nothing seems to work...

additional attempts on my side.

apt-get remove --purge xxxxx
apt-get clean
apt-get update (nothing to update)
apt-get upgrade (nothing to upgrade)
apt-cache rdepends xxxx ( nothing found)
dpkg -L xxx ( not installed)

dont know what to do else... :(

Re: Enna for Nokia N900

Have you tried "apt-get install enna"? Sometimes the app manager fails to resolve issues that apt-get has no problem with.

AlMehdi 2010-03-26 16:17

Re: Enna for Nokia N900

And maybe "apt-get -f install enna"

Boogietown 2010-03-26 16:25

Re: Enna for Nokia N900

*lol*

kick me :mad::mad::mad:

apt-get install enna :D
*g*

damm bloody packet-manager

so if any of you got the "libeina0 problem" and has uninstalled
bluemeamo/canola

try the below

"apt-get install enna"
from the commandline (xterm) with root enabled

regards from germany
