Re: TeamViewer on N900

TV seems to have gained iphone support, not seeing maemo support on their site. I will ask them about n900 cuz i have paid licenses to use.

Re: TeamViewer on N900

would love to see an app for maemo aswell, unfortunately there seems to be no linux support at all so a port is not likely.

I tried the webviewer which is flash based but can't get it to work, it just kills the browser after a while.

Re: TeamViewer on N900

I dont know if this helps but: You could always try to use VNC, that works fine :)

Re: TeamViewer on N900

Yea vnc works but teamviewer is so much easier to set up, and requires no firewall setup since it works over http.

TV is unvaluable for me when a customer need support, they just download and start the TV client and tell me a number displayed in the client and then I can connect to them no matter where I am, I just need a working internet connection.

Re: TeamViewer on N900

well it works on iphone. i dont see why they can't port it to N900. but im saying that with no knowledge of linux at all! so i can be completely wrong!

This is what Teamviewer replied me after posting my request for the availability of their application for Maemo Devices.

I think I will send off a similar inquiry. The more interest shown, the more chance they will make it available to maemo/meego.

But if u see closely, it's just the SAME email that you got fareed_xtreme....

I hate automated emails...

Re: TeamViewer on N900

Hi everyone
Forgotten that N900 has a great browser? Try

www.freeetv.com

directly in the browser. Notice the 3 "e"s is not a typo. There is also a freetv. (2 "e"s) but it is not as good !!! There are stations from just about every country in just about every language. Since the browser plays flash most of the stations work. I have found some that don't, can't say why, but the selection is so huge you are sure to find one you like. Nokia N900 rocks, who needs apps ?

TV has announced Linux version of its software
http://www.teamviewer.com/download/index.aspx?os=linux

Can anyone make it work under N900 ?

In order to port this to N900 the i386 .deb is no use - we need the source code.

Re: TeamViewer on N900

Problem is, we also would need wine on the N900 because the Teamviewer for Linux is based on it.

The tar.gz package has no sourcecode in it, it is all already compiled and has a own wine included - i just looked into it.

Teamviewer would be great on the N900 altough, it is a real "just works" remote app.

I noticed on a friends ipad he has teamviewer... just wish it was available on the N900!

Re: TeamViewer on N900

the linux version of teamviewer is a joke

it has a native configuration window, but the viewer application itself is running inside a wine session

So, in fact, they doesnt have a native linux version

Re: TeamViewer on N900

I use the teamviewer from the browser, its sluggish, but it atleast works.

May I ask how you do that please?

edit: I've just signed into the website and can see how it works... will see what it's like in browser but I expect slow performance!

This is kind of wrong. Teamviewer is nice if you don't have any dedicated servers to set up a reverse tunnel - assuming you want to bypass NAT and such, or your ISP is draconian - but VNC is just as good, just as easy. If you're swinging an N900 around, you can handle VNC :-)

Whatever this is it's pretty old, at least 4 years. That'd put it at around version 2. This means it is definitely not forward compatible with current versions of TeamViewer.

Basically it's just plain old VNC with a few tweaks. Also it requires an enterprise license code to connect to the teamviewer system.
