Pinthemap suggests this forum has one person in Oxford (Lewis) and two others close to you west of Witney, alternatively if you're heading in the direction of norwich anytime I can sort you out :)

Can't help you in Oxford (am in Southampton). However I did initially try flashing under Windows - wouldn't work. I then used my linux (Fedora 12) laptop and it was trivially easy. Done it quite a few times without problems.

What were your original problems? Wondering if running linux under a VM or on a spare partition may help. Of course if unfamiliar it may cause as many problems as it fixes, hence your request!

Alright!
Been meaning to reply to this thread, yet to actually post in this forum.

I haven't actually flashed mine yet but I probably will if PR1.2 is going to be delayed in the UK like 1.1

I'm no expert but it doesn't look too complex, if I figure it out I will let you know.

I tried to reflash it with Win7, Vista and Ubuntu with no luck....I had to sneak and use my wife's Windows XP laptop (yes, she's old fashioned) and it worked like a charm. I also had the UK version but now have the global. Maybe if you can get a hold of Windows XP will do the trick.

I flashed my n900 with Win7 without problems. You must be using 64bit :D
