Re: Here is the solution for N900 battery problems....

oh don't forget to buy another desktop charger for it. Otherwise you'll have to leave your phone as a charger before you can start using the batteries. :)

Weird... I usually charge my phone overnight, but when I forget it still survives for 2 full days most of the time...

Re: Here is the solution for N900 battery problems....

I do get some quite impressive battery life from using the GPRS/ WLAN auto-disconnect app and the Smart Power Saving hack.
Now I have an easy 2-2,5 days without charging.

@tomster....Are 100% sure???

Re: Here is the solution for N900 battery problems....

I can second tomster's experience using the smart power saving options: 2-2.5 days usage with always on wifi, email, some webbrowsing, watching some clips,...

Quite a good idea. Ideal for long train journeys.

However, I prefer to carry one of these. It is hard to fit into my jeans pocket though.

Re: Here is the solution for N900 battery problems....

If you go for a mobile charger, you might also consider this on, which I am using: Mobile Booster KBC-L2S fom Sanyo

But beware, that you need a special "charging-only" usb-cable to make it work with the n900.

Re: Here is the solution for N900 battery problems....

instead of purchasing all these. better to purchase Nokia 1100.. for all the phone calls. it is small, portable, even cheaper than the above said portable battery... and battery life 3 days... lolz

£399? Johnel, I like your taste but really you should be looking at the price point a bit.... <rolls eyes>

Hoping this place runs phpBB code so here goes:

Get one of these - 1/8 the price, and green too! Not the best if you live in Britain because we see the sun so little we have blue skin. Anyone seen Avatar? Is it wrong to fancy a female alien?

I guess nothing beats this little 2 line-power-saving-hack - pricewise.

Maybe PR1.2 will even bring this feature out the box. Let's see...

A green solution - good idea!

But then again does the solutions in the thread defeat the purpose of "portable computer".

My only other option is to use my jedi force-charge skills on the battery.

Coincidently I tried my jedi mind tricks on my cat but his look of contempt just screamed "Your Mind Tricks Won't Work On Me, Jedi" and then pissed all over my pillow.

Tend to hack of the other passengers on the train too! Would also need to use headphones too or never hear the N900!

I'm not even sure it's got a pulse. Its got sweet little lights on its face though. And I'm not sure what I would do about the tail....

But she'd get it!

Portable computer eh? Like this one?

I do actually carry one of these and a spare battery for it around; however, given that I'm in Britain too, I tend to top them up from USB if I think I'll be using a lot of power before I can next recharge my n900...

You can not make a post like this with out posting your settings. Like what you have on and whats turned off and how much you use it. it's just not fair to the rest of us lol.. we are all over here fantasizing about getting a days worth of use out of our phone. i know i sure am. If you do decided to update it will be greatly appreciated and i will certainly configure my phone in the exact way as you have yours

My Dad used to work for Compaq computers (waaaayyyy back in the eighties) and we have this:
http://news.cnet.com/i/bto/20080422/...-2_270x159.jpg

Compaq Portable II with a massive 20Mb hard-drive and a powerful 286 clocked at 8mhz.

We still have it and it still works!

Unfortunately my right arm is now 6 inches longer than my left.

Get these instead of spare battery:
Nokia DC-11 Extra Power Charger
http://thenokiablog.com/2010/03/21/n...ger-on-the-go/

Spare Battery requires turning off the phone, opening the back cover, changing the battery. Personally, I don't really like to keep opening the back cover.

There's another type of charger which uses AA battery, Nokia DC-8.

I use the spare battery/charger at home. It is easy, inexpensive, works great.

It's about the size of iPhone, as it fits perfectly in iPhone's pouch when I was looking a pouch for it, :p

Personally, it's much better than to carry a spare battery which requires turning off the phone, opening the cover, changing the battery...

But yea, it's troublesome to carry around. Just an option :)

Start exercising and charge your battery at the same time:
Dynamo Hand-Crank USB Cell Phone Emergency Charger

I have one of those (older model with 2mm connection) and it works with N900 (using 2mm - uUSB adapter).

It's interesting that the user experience varies a lot with this power hack.
Some notice hardly any difference and even with the latest firmware people experience reboots.
Ironically, reboots cost a lot of power... so when you have a few (or even one) a day does it really make a big difference in power savings?

Perhaps the Autodisconnect app is a better solution to try first.
I don't like reboots.
But... as some don't have any reboots at all, do you also belong to that group of users?
Because there are only a few that AND really notice significant worthy improvement AND do not suffer from (frequent) sudden reboots. ;)

It is the size of the N900 and charges it once. Hardly a 'must have'! If it was able to charge to N900 3 or 4 times over then it would be worth investing in. Stick to a spare battery or two. Almost no size, easy and convenient to carry around.
