N900's graphics processor performance comparison

N900's graphics processor is compared with other mobiles like iphone, nexusone, samsung wave etc see this = http://blog.gsmarena.com/quick-mobil...ce-comparison/

Re: N900's graphics processor performance comparison

Samsung Wave and I9000 Galaxy has graphics processor which is more than 6 times faster than N900's.

Look how fast technology is improving

Well these are row numbers which don't actually mean faster. For instance the 3GS uses twice as fast as N900's GPU but it runs on half its intended frequency to save precious battery and is actually a little slower... ;)

Any PC gamer knows the video card is the first thing to become obsolete :p

Testing methodology failure.

I've heard this a number of times (all of them here), but there are no definitive sources about this. Even if it were true (which at this point I doubt), how do we know games do not change its operating frequency?

men, i cant catch up on the speed of n900, and this is telling me that there's many out there that are much faster?.

Interesting little article on GPUs, but I must agree with Bundyo. Even if there is no definitive source to validate his comment, straight stats mean nothing.

I would love to see if someone can get us some fps outputs. Only problem is how many people have access to all these phones for graphics testing. Let alone is there any software that is common to all these phones? I know Doom is on the iPhone and the N900.

Overall gabby131 makes a great point. I am never waiting for the N900. I love it.

because it an iphone, which is very closed. everybody know apple doesn't allow the developers to do a lot of things, like multi tasting etc, and that they are very strict with their developers. From what I remember even the cpu is undercloacked and doesn't run at it's full potential, because it will eat their battery alive. apple will never let a developer use what ever he closed.
and lets not count jailbreak since from apples point of view that's illegal

Yup, I've also saw it here, but there was a link to some source if I remember correctly. Anyway things like chipset and additional hardware helpers can lower the scales either way.

Some GLES 1.1 benchmarks here:
http://www.glbenchmark.com/compare.jsp

No N900 or aforementioned Samsung phones.

Double fail for the N900 then!

I only saw numbers....where are the real comparison?
(the question isn't to plaban, but for the post author in the blog)

The cause of A is A? Apple's walled garden doesn't mean they underclock the CPU, and doesn't necessarily mean they don't have a "enterGameMode" API.

I quite like the look of the Samsung Wave especially the media player. Why is the N900 media player so primitive and boring?

Its annoying as I see polish on the Wave interface that the N900 badly needs for that "cool" factor. I'm almost tempted to get the Wave when I renew my other T-Mobile contract in July, have it as a backup phone. Except no "free" phone is free, it would probably cost at least £240 over the course of the year in how much more the contract would be than a renewed SIM only one will do and I can't rationalise that.

GLbenchmark 2.0 is available; N900 is supported. Device performance comparison
