Hello, where can I download and install this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fa7bedGmOro

Apparently not as useful on the N800. Can anyone tell me what the DIrectional keys map as. I want to use them to select between apps.

Re: Where Do I download Skippy XD for Nokia N810?

Yup unusable on N800. All you can see are the open windows but selecting them is all but impossible due to the swap key taking over screen input.

So do you advise not to try on n810 either due to instability? Really not into taking chances...

Re: Where Do I download Skippy XD for Nokia N810?

Actually seems to be stable Just that the activation key apparently is no good on the 800. I assume that the swap key works differently on the 810.

This is the video (made by me) of mine theme.
I do it in Holidays or in free time for fun.
I'm very busy right now (university, work, etc) but I will make the .deb file to make this theme one-click-install. You can see a few videos more in my channel http://www.youtube.com/user/DenielOlivo
Every time when I add something to my theme — I will upload the video. So keep in touch.

Dmitry Chirva, aka Kroll, aka freshhand (on livejournal.com), aka DenielOlivo on youtube.
Thanks.

I «killed» tasknavigatorbar with app switcher and use only skippy-xd.
I think I will ask my friend to make it more usable for n8x0 and i gonna add this app to my theme.

Re: Where Do I download Skippy XD for Nokia N810?

skippy-xd and wavy integration has been ported by t-moyashi for maemo and he has also put them in the extras-devel repository.. he has also integrated apwal to this.. This combination introduces a good gesture launching feature for maemo..

details are mentioned here by moyashi, but in Japanese.. google translate is your friend..

skippy-xd is working on my N810 without issues for more than a month now

Kroll 2010-03-28 11:26

Re: Where Do I download Skippy XD for Nokia N810?

@shin

Yep, but I have some problems with setting the apps to the corners... The skippy-xd stop work if I do it. Maybe it because i do it wrong.

Kroll: Thanks for your input. I downloaded Quasar a few days ago. Nice work. I'd definitely appreciate your theme.

I assume by "tasknavigator" you mean the swap menu. How did you do that?

Hey, if you think that I created Quasar — you're mistaking. It is a short ui review for my friend, I found this app in repository :)

No, tasknavigator is a full left bar with three icons (Applications, Web browser, contacts, etc) and icons of running applications.
I deleted lines in [Tasknavigator] part in /home/user/.osso/hildon-desktop/desktop.conf. You can just set a wide parameter in this config to zero, but you will find a tiny line on the left side of your screen and in this case the «home» button will run the swap menu. If u will delet lines (like i did) — you will lose the swap menu too.

Re: Where Do I download Skippy XD for Nokia N810?

Hey thanks. I misunderstood the Quazar reference. Hmmm. if I deleted 'tasknavigator" then I'll need to setup powerlaunch or something so I can get into my apps first. I'll try this later.

Kroll 2010-03-28 14:16

Re: Where Do I download Skippy XD for Nokia N810?

Not really.
If you saw my video u definitely saw that I placed application menu to the applets area in statusbar. I just copied it from the tasknavigator's plugins directory to statusbar's plugins directory. You can find this directories in /home/user/.osso/hildon-desktop/desktop.conf for statusbar and tasknavigator.
You will probably need to draw a new icon for small application menu button.

I think the powerlaunch will works fine in the statusbar, but I never tried.

sondjata 2010-03-28 15:39

Re: Where Do I download Skippy XD for Nokia N810?

Isn't there a limit to the number of items that can go into the status bar area? With what I have up there already the moved items would fall off.

Sorry, I have not get it, my English is not very good.
You can place a 7 applets in the statusbar and, as I think, it is a Diablo limit. I make the applet area very wide, but when I setting up more then 7 applets they go to the second layer.

sondjata 2010-03-28 16:06

Re: Where Do I download Skippy XD for Nokia N810?

You are correct. on mine the limit is 6. Once the 7th is posted I get a second line but you have to hit the arrow to get to them. Mine is packed already so moving anything else up there would not work.

Anyway I look forward to your theme, perhaps it will address some of my concerns

Kroll 2010-03-28 16:33

Re: Where Do I download Skippy XD for Nokia N810?

Hm... May be I did something and I don't know what :D but I able to post 7 applets without any arrows (You can find the proof of it in the video link was posted in the first post).
Any way, I hope I will finish my theme and you will be able to run it on your n8x0 device.

Hey Kroll, how do you make these changes take effect?

Does it require a full reboot or is there something that can be typed in Xterm for those changes to take effect immediately?

Many thanks!

Re: [Maemo 4] Where Do I download Skippy XD for Nokia N810?

Just reload the Hildon.
If u are the load-applet user - go to the list process and kill Hildon-desktop. It will restart automatically.

Addison 2010-03-31 22:14

Re: [Maemo 4] Where Do I download Skippy XD for Nokia N810?

Awesome!

So for newbies like me, in Xterm it's:
killall hildon-desktop

One last thing Kroll, mind sharing your .conf files while we wait for your themed release?

Re: [Maemo 4] Where Do I download Skippy XD for Nokia N810?

Addison, which one you want? I edited so much .confs while I was trying to understand what this files and parametrs does...

If you wanna get the theme .conf files — sorry, I will not do it 'cause I don't want to share to you a pieces of ****... It's very-very pre-alfa now

Sorry.

Re: [Maemo 4] Where Do I download Skippy XD for Nokia N810?

Hi to all, this is my first post.
I'm trying to install Skippy-xd and Quasar but i always get the same errors:
- from Application Manager it says those packages aren't installable because of conflicts with "busybox (3:1.6.1.legal-1osso16)"
- from "apt-get" is asks me to remove sysvinit and busybox (because of sysvinit) and lot of other packages... i tried to confirm this but it doesn't work the same.

I don't know if it's a stupid problem but i really don't know how to go over it.

Thanks to everyone can help me!!

p.s.: i'm sure but i remember i get the same error with other packages... but i'm not sure

Re: [Maemo 4] Where Do I download Skippy XD for Nokia N810?

Hey!
Try to
apt-get remove busybox
apt-get autoremove

and then try to install Skippy-xd or any other app.

Re: [Maemo 4] Where Do I download Skippy XD for Nokia N810?

Stupid question;

The .tar extension means I need to download and install from the n810 itself correct?

Is there any code that needs to be run to get theresult that is shown in the video from earlier?

Kroll 2010-04-01 22:37

Re: [Maemo 4] Where Do I download Skippy XD for Nokia N810?

Noooooope.

It's just an .config files.

I gonna keep all theme data while I creating the theme, but when I finish you will able to install it.

Sorry, didn't saw this post :)

You can get skippy-xd from extras-devel, but it has a lot of... hm... problems. Buggy and unstable.
But my friend will make a better application switcher based on skippy-xd in a two weeks... I hope :)

I think busybox is one of the system applications you can't remove. Anyways this morning I've solved it... but i don't know what was the problem :( I've just overwrite my hildon-application-manager.list with a backup copy i've done before. After "apt-get update" some libraries have been updated and i've been able to install Skippy-xd and Quasar.

........now i've to learn how to use skippy :)

Probably i'm going to use you config files...

Thanx anyways for you kind reply.

Be careful, u gonna lose the tasknavigator completely, with notifications menu (IM or e-mail notification) and task switcher if u use my .confs

Thx for your advise but I usually read and check before to do something :) I've just commented the part about the tasknavigator in my config files because I'm using the ThinkLinux theme too. Doing this i loose the notifications too, am i right?

Please, how can I do to maintain the tasknavigator and assign the Skippy-xd to some other key? For example how can i assign the skippy-xd to the "back" button (the one under the home)?

I think i need both the classic tasknavigator and skippy-xd because this one sometimes doesnt work perfect.

Thx again for your replies!!!

Just leave the tasknavigator and go to Menu → Extras → Skippy-xd conf and edit it. Home button is F5, «Back» button is esc, but I'm not sure.

By the way, if somebody wants a bit more information - please watch the video i made a minute ago.

Re: [Maemo 4] Where Do I download Skippy XD for Nokia N810?

If you have an N800 whatever you do, DO NOT set the activation key to F3!

F4 is the menu button. Not ideal if you use it.

F6 is the top window resize button.

F7 is the + magnification

F8 is the - magnification

So what F3 was?

Hey, what about «Back» button = esc?
