GSoC 10 - Students wanted ($5000 per project)

The Maemo community is looking for talented students to join us in Google Summer of Code 2010.

We already have a good pool of ideas, but new ideas are more than welcome, especially in the following areas:

* Location based apps;
* Context aware apps;
* Social apps clients;
* Mobile/embedded apps in general that can benefit a wide range of platforms (Maemo, MeeGo, etc…).

Following the merger of Moblin and Maemo, we’ll also accept ideas for new MeeGo project,

This year the students will received $5000 + gifts for each successful project, the application period will start tomorrow(March 29) and will end on April 9.

More informations about Maemo @ GSoC can be found here.

I have an idea, but the time and place to propose it is tomorrow and here (http://wiki.maemo.org/GSoC_2010/Projects), right?

Thanks in advance

mmm in projected ideas there are also all the proposal so I cannot understand if it is the right place to post the ideas by which a student wants to propose himself

No need, only if you want(see previous post for the correct link), if you want to discuss a idea better post it here or in the -devel mailing list. We'll also discuss the proposals but that inside the GSoC system.

You should have an idea to delevop, instead, you shoud see the ideas list, and look for the option that you prefer.

I personally don't know the service, perhaps the user base is not that big, and a Maemo client would be used only by a small minority, we will prefer projects that can reach a bigger user base, correct me if I'm wrong.

How do students usually discuss the ideals with the community?
I mean by what. IRC or Maillist or here?

You can discuss in any of these channels, but here or in the mailing list is better IMO.

I submitted an idea to the wiki page when google summer of code 10 was announced. It seems to be in the final proposal stage. How do I actually apply for this project. Sorry if this sounds like a silly question.

What's the status of GSoC? Is there somewhere that the projects that have been accepted are listed?
