How and where did you buy your N900? [UK OWNERS]
I've been trying to buy a N900 on contract on the network O2, so I called up to find that they aren't selling it, so I decided to go onto the Carphone Warehouse website, called them up and they also don't have it (yet it's on their site ). This week I'm headin' in to the store to see if they know any helpful info.
So, how did you get your N900? That would really help me out. |
Re: How and where did you buy your N900? [UK OWNERS]
Got mine on preorder in Nov with Mobile Phones Direct.
Search the forum for MPD oders its one of the biggest threads ever and could pass away a couple of days reading all our winges and gripes on when it was going to turn up. Those were the days many a false call with the mailman :) |
Re: How and where did you buy your N900? [UK OWNERS]
I bought mine from Nokia Retail (www.nokiaretail.co.uk). The site seems to be down at the moment though!

Re: How and where did you buy your N900? [UK OWNERS]
If you can afford the initial outlay its more economical to buy it SIM free, if you buy from Nokia through QuidCo you get 10%. So Direct from Nokia @ £479, then QuidCo send you £47.90 making the phone £431.10.
Plus a contract or SIM deal of some sort. I bought mine from Vodafone for £450 SIM free, I'm on a contract £15/month for 600mins, unlimited texts and internet. Neil |
Re: How and where did you buy your N900? [UK OWNERS]
Got mine from voafone £40 a month 1200 mins, unlimited texts landline and internet, 2 year contract though
|
Re: How and where did you buy your N900? [UK OWNERS]
I got mine, SIM free, from Amazon UK for £399 (it appears it was an unwanted upgrade as I have the Vodafone firmware but, strangely, no branding) and signed up to O2 Simplicity for £10 per month with unlimited internet for an extra £5 a month.
I initially tried to buy it from CPW on a T-Mobile contract but it was like banging my head off a brick wall. |
Re: How and where did you buy your N900? [UK OWNERS]
I got mine from Ebay got it delivered from US to Manchester. Sim free for 470 quids. I have been using 3 and shifted my monthly contract to sim only one month that is 15 quids per month..

Got mine from vodafone as an upgrade
Free N900 - 2years contract - 1200min UnlimitedTXT UnlimitedNET(500mega....its a joke) -- 35/mounth |
Re: How and where did you buy your N900? [UK OWNERS]
I got mine in Jan from MobilePhonesDirect - £30p/m, 300mins, unlimited text and WEB.
Sort of regret getting it because im no hacker, or publisher. Wasnt much information flying at the time about it being a 'hackers paradise' which makes life difficult for me. Problem with MPD, is that once the box is opened your pretty much tied into the contract, unlike other outlets. Glad i still have my iPhone unlocked to hotswap the SIM! |
Re: How and where did you buy your N900? [UK OWNERS]
got mine simfree from the carphonewarehouse store in town. 469. but they gave me 78 quid for part exing a battered old n95 so i had the n900 for 390ish. best deal ive seen so far.

I had an 18 month contract with T-mobile (25 quid a month plus 5 for internet) on my old phone (Touch Diamond). It ran out just as I got my N900 so got another 18months but because it was without an upgrade I'm now paying only a tenner a month which includes internet plus (3gig download limit, instead of the usual 1gig). I'm getting pretty good reception, which 3.5G connection pretty much everywhere. |

got mine from a dude in barking for 350!
then i got a 3 sim for 15 a month...no contract! |
Re: How and where did you buy your N900? [UK OWNERS]
Carphone Warehouse, on O2 PAYG was £430. Had to try two stores. The first said they only had it on contract. I like the top up £10 and get "unlimited" internet for a month - far more use to me than lots of texts or free calls to a number.

thats something you can do on some phones with the memory card. taking it out when phone is still turned on thought i would let you know that. |
Re: How and where did you buy your N900? [UK OWNERS]
Carphone Warehouse, in January. £49 up front, and £25 a month for 2 years, for 500 texts, 600 mins (or is it 900?) and unlimited internet. Not gone over any of my limits yet, and I hammered it in the first month.
That was the cheapest deal for me. It was £30 a month in store, £25 online... At £500 new for a phone, I reckon I am only paying £150 for a 2 year unlimited internet contract, which I can also run my laptop through via tethering :D |
Re: How and where did you buy your N900? [UK OWNERS]
Got my from Nokia DIrect for £499 ( with 20% discount with Quidco and 10% discount direct from Nokia).
I am on T-mobile contract with 100 mins/100 Texts and Web 'n' Walk Plus for £5 a month. |
Re: How and where did you buy your N900? [UK OWNERS]
CeX (£272 - £395 depending on condition and operator) and the Simplicity (or existing) SIM of your choice.
Even cheaper if you have something to trade against it. |
Re: How and where did you buy your N900? [UK OWNERS]
Bought mine from In Touch Cellular in Bournemouth. Paid £460 cash - not the cheapest, but I don't want the cheapest service in return...
I had an X6 the week before but the general unsuitability of Symbian to handle what is otherwise an excellent product disappointed and frustrated me. When the screen started playing up I phoned Nathan at ITC and he took it back no question and I paid the extra for the N900. Good service costs good money. I use Vodafone's PAYG and spend about £15-20/month. Mostly browse at home on wireless. I'll probably upgrade to the next big thing in 12m or so - too much going on to be tied into a contract at the moment! |
Re: How and where did you buy your N900? [UK OWNERS]
Bought it as soon as Flagship store in Oxford Street (UK)had them in stock. 499.99 gbp. Cant remember exactly when but november last yr

Re: How and where did you buy your N900? [UK OWNERS]

Re: How and where did you buy your N900? [UK OWNERS]
Mobiles.co.uk - £20 up front for the phone. £30p/m including internet. Went through Fatcheese.co.uk and got £35cash back on purchase. Traded in old n95 8Gb through fonebank for £121.
I wanted to buy SIM free but it always came out cheaper on tarrif. Went from 3(not bad but not that great either) to Voda and I've got to say, it's an improvement from 3. The 500meg limit is not that rigid and they don't mind you going over a bit. Coverage is very good overall. |
