Custom SMS alert Cracking?
Is there any solution to this issue. I notice when you preview the "song" theres no Cracking, but when set and one receives a message at the peaks the audio clips:(
I've notice this for a while and i even think i heard it mentioned before(im not sure) but im certain i've never read a solution. if anyone knows of this problem or even a solution please feel free to share. Edit: it happens to custom ringers too:( my file types are MP3's |
Re: Custom SMS alert Cracking?
Are you guys serious no one else has this problem:confused:

Re: Custom SMS alert Cracking?
Sorry, I didn't understand your question fully. Are you saying that when you set a message tone or a ring tone, the song only plays for a certain amount of time before being clipped (ie it stops the song or just loops again from the beginning)?

Re: Custom SMS alert Cracking?
i believe there was a thread about this before, but it dealt with ringtone more so than sms tones.
i think the consensus was that you should convert it to aac on your computer first. something wrong with the way the phone handles mp3s as tones. could be way off though. |
Re: Custom SMS alert Cracking?
im thanking you for your reply:)

Re: Custom SMS alert Cracking?
Can you upload the songs you are having trouble with if the above post doesn't work? Maybe the one with the most cracking (provided its not copyrighted or something), or even a youtube link :)

post your results (good or bad) so others can benefit :D |
Re: Custom SMS alert Cracking?
This is a reported bug, it's due to the fact that the ringtone you select gets converted into a mono wave file and that can cause cracking effect,

I suppose one method of getting around it is even following comment 31 and making a wav file yourself if aac audio doesn't work as rariss suggested. |
Re: Custom SMS alert Cracking?
Rariss converting the files to .acc brings the same isuee:(
and i can see why someone came to that conclusion.. its because the default ringtones are that format(.acc or ADTS Audio) but they are considerately smaller files. well im off on my way to work so i will tinker with fixing this issue when i get home if anyone finds a solution please feel free to enlighten.. thanks [QUOTEComment #31 from Andrea Musci 2010-01-27 13:00:57 GMT+3 [reply] I confirm that crackling sound is due to poor internal convertion quality from mp3 to wav. I replaced the automatically generated wav file with another 2 ch, 44100 Hz, 1411 kbit/s, 16 bit wav file and it was reproduced correctly with no crackling.][/QUOTE] seem like to be the only solutions for now thanks again everyone |
Re: Custom SMS alert Cracking?
i also have this problem, it only seems to happen with mp3

Re: Custom SMS alert Cracking?
ah well,
well then the only other options i can think of would be to -try Blaizzen's suggestion of converting the file to .wav yourself since this is the way the phone handles ringtones at the moment -lower the bitrate of the mp3 or aac? (but this is a shot in the dark) |
