viewing .mov files...

I was just wondering if there was any way to view .mov (quicktime) videos that are embedded in a web page. I guess there isn't a version of quicktime for the n800 and it seems the media player doesn't support the .mov format. Sorry in advance if this is a dumb question or if its already been covered. Any advice?

I think MPlayer does play quicktime files.
The issue then is to be able to have it launch via the browser.
Waiting for that I suppose you could download the file and then open it in MPlayer.

I am somewhat frustrated. When I go to http://mobile.reuters.com/ they have news videos. I can see these on my SPRINT Treo 755P, but I can not see them on my Nokia N810. I think these are .mov files.

Using the browser in my sprint phone, the video player launches automatically.

The videos play fine in my n810/diablo, thru mediaplayer.

Plays fine on my N800/diablo with mediaplayer. It says that the video files are type 3gpp not mov.

Interesting, when I loaded up http://mobile.reuters.com/ and clicked in video and picked one. It opened up mediaplayer but could not load it. I then copied the link into mplayer and it worked. People it worked with, do you have any special media stuff installed ogg support or what not.
I have N800/Diablo

I have an N800 with Diablo. I've installed no extra media playback software. No mplayer, no Canola, no OGG, nothing, and the clips on the Reuters mobile site play fine.

Makes me wonder if mplayers presence is in some way messing up 3gp playback, but I am not in the know enough to blame anything. It does not work on my 770 (with 2008HE, Canola 2 beta 9, mplayer) either.

hmmm there's a thread here that has a plugin that's supposed to play mplayer-supported movies directly in the browser... try doing a search for "mplayer plugin"

this might help :)

I have N800/Diablo

Nothing special installed, pretty standard OS and ancilliary programs. Don't even have Mplayer.

It is probably too old. And will need newer mplayer rc2 to play mov good anyway. I may get back to port the next version.

So, to get back on topic, is there a way to play .mov (quicktime) movies on the NIT? A lot of digital cameras generate this type of file and its frustrating not to be able to play them.
