error:memory storage full
 

i received an error : "unable to send and receive messages.please uninstall some programs.device storage memory full".

Please suggest me how to sort this problem?even i 26GB memory is free in my phone also application installation memory availablr,e is 1.56GB.

Hi singh.bhupinder. As far as i am aware the sms's etc are stored in a db on the rootfs. The rootfs is a separate 256mb chip. (Not included in your 32gb storage)

there is quite a lot you can do - but i recommend reading through the wiki page dedicated to problems like this.

If you have rootsh (Root access) installed you will be in a better position, some simple things will help, such as(in x-terminal, run these commands)
(enter after each line)
and
If you have extras-devel or testing enabled, disable them immediatley that will free up some room to help you out in the hort term, straight away.

i installed glogarchive and archive my conversations every end of the month, then delete all my sms on conversations, will this be a help on freeing up root?

had the same thing. tried everything in the wiki, had AMPLE space in rootfs,and the the only thing from extras devs was fapn and fmms. no matter what i didnt, that stupid notification wouldnt go away. just flashing the firmware didnt help. i flashed the emmc, and then the firmware and then everything was cool. u should start from scratch

i think i read in a thread somewhere that even though u clear up space its something to do with the notification.. maybe a search could turn up a way to reset that notificatiion? especially if its showing u have enough space.

on a totally unrelated note, loving the health checker app Noob! maybe i can interest you in a clock widget idea had?

There is no way to increase the space as it is a physical chip. But take heed of Optimistprimes posts as it could be something else.

Won't really know until you check how much rootfs space you have
(In terminal run df -h (You do not need to be root))

If you have very little space then it is a rootfs problem. if you do not then you need to do a spring clean, search the forums and see what else can be found, as you are not the only person with these problems i feel. :D

ahhhh sounds like rootfs issue to me.
use the commands / tools i posted earlier and then try the df -h command again, after a reboot.
(Eg, disable repos, run clean, autoremove...)
List what apps from what repos you have installed too ;) - always useful to detect possible file hogs.
(If you have python installed - pyoptify on the wiki page is a good one too)

Note that you will never get it below 60/70% ;)

in the wiki, type in "free up rootfs space" it would probably direct you for some codes.

i believe i perform all codes except for those that have bugs (like moving themes, apt-cache etc on /home). at that time, im running 86% of rootfs used. after performing the codes and disabling devel, it free up 15mb of rootfs space.
