OOooo man not good idea! was curious and flashed this, and i now have no idea what to do!!, how to i reflash back to regular firmware!!! ahh someone help plz?? i try doing a reflash in maemo flasher, i ran flasher-3.5.exe -F RX-51_2009SE_1.2009.41-1.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM.bin -f -R in meamo flashaer 3.5 but i got using flashing protocol Mk II. nothing happen after! someone help me plz?

How come everything I think would happen is coming true today just after reading meego.com was thinking there will be a post exactly similar with this title and here it is.

flash the system software not emmc...
download the file from the place u got the vanilla emmc
and go to wiki.maemo.com for more details anf then, maybe you can get something good from the results

i tryed doing flasher-3.5.exe -F RX-51_2009SE_1.2009.42-11_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin -f -R, but still not luck..... getting a bunch of crap then using flashin protocol Mk II

problem is i cant get the phone to enter that mode after you hold U and plug in usb, it goes directly too meego terminal

From a windows PC



You first need to download three pieces of software.

The first software you need is called "Maemo Flasher", and this is the program that needs to be installed on your PC and can be found here:

Download the latest version of Maemo Flasher (which is currently 3.5 at time of posting this), and make sure you download the .exe file.



Install that file.





Next you need the software for the N900 itself.

That can be found here:

http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/nokia_N900.php



This page will ask you to enter your IMEI, with very clear instructions on where to find it.

Follow the on screen prompts until you reach the download section.



There are two pieces of software you need to download from there.

1.eMMC content - This is the package to erase all data held on your 32GB storage.
2.OS 2009 - This is your operating system.


There is only one eMMC package available, so download that one. Its called Vanilla.
Download the OS package that matches the Version on your device. As shown in the image above, using the red text as an example.

For people that purchased the N900 in the UK, the OS package will probably be the same as the red text. But make sure you check.



Software downloads complete.



Place these two software packages in the following location on your PC.

c:\program files\maemo\flasher-3.5



You should now have two .bin files in the directory above.



Next steps.





Updating the N900 OS



1.Your battery needs to be 100% full to prevent any crashes which could leave your phone dead.
2.Turn your N900 off.
3.Press and hold the U key on the keypad.
4.Insert the USB cable (a USB symbol should appear on the top right of your N900 screen, and also the Nokia logo in the centre).
5.You can now let go of the U key.
6.On your PC: Navigate to the Start Menu and select Run.
7.In the Run box, type: cmd. Then OK
8.In the command window, type: cd\program files\maemo\flasher-3.5
9.Type: flasher-3.5 -F RX-51_2009SE_1.2009.42-11.203.2_PR_F5_203_ARM.bin -f -R

If you DO NOT know how to handle hardware in a low level developer capacity, DO NOT FLASH DEVELOPER IMAGES OF OPERATING SYSTEMS TO YOUR HARDWARE.

DO YOUR HOMEWORK. PAY ATTENTION TO THREADS THAT SCREAM AT THE TOP OF THEIR LUNGS THAT "THIS SOFTWARE IS NOT READY FOR USE BY NORMAL USERS"

For those who blindly installed this before doing your homework. You deserved this. Now you dig yourself out.

It runs, but it's only command line (no GUI). No point in trying unless you love the command line.

I don't know myself. I didn't bother trying to install Meego since I knew that it wasn't going be stable enough for my liking. But hold on tight, I'm sure it's not un-reverseable. You just need to wait for the right person to come to the forum. Maybe re-title your thread to "can't reflash back to Maemo 5 after installing Meego" so people get a better idea of what's going on. Hopefully someone will help you out soon.

OO ok guys totally my bad, i got it to reflash meamo on there WOOOOOOOOO!@!@ PRAISE THE LORD, all i was doing wrong was holding down U and pluggin in usb, i just had to make sure it loaded the nokia logo on the screen and stay on that mode, not loading meego shell! SOOOO IF ANYONE WAS ******ED LIKE ME and install meego, it reversible! :D

I have the exact same problem as you. I installed meego and have nothing but the console. Have been trying to flash it back to maemo, but the usb icon doesn't appear anymore. I have the message "Using flashing protocol Mk II" too. I'm not clear on what you meant by "doing wrong". I held down the U and plugged in the usb. Please tell me what you did to get it to flash. Thanks.

Unfortunately, threads in the Maemo area that scream like that are usually lying, in my experience. By exaggerating hysterically, they condition users to ignore them. This makes it difficult to issue real warnings that people can believe.

Plug the USB in while the flasher is on.. and Right when the N900 vibrates when turned on press and hold U... Is that what you're doing?

It was accidental that I got it to show the usb icon at all. I asked a friend to replicate the situation and got the icon to appear randomly. He held the usb cable steady while I press enter on the cmd flash screen. Even a slight movement would exit the usb mode. Got it to flash to maemo, but failed at the end. Then flashing it again was easier. Now it's back to normal. Thanks

Seeing how you might be stuck - Could you not try install a GUI?
apt-get (or whatever meego uses) and install GDM or XFCE/LXDE.... Pointless, just an idea... Could be cool.

I've had same problem as you guys, fixed it by making sure USB connection is clean, done same with micro usb. I've also used another USB port.

That was quite strange problem though. I could flash my eMMC but I couldn't do the same with the firmware. It just stopped flashing at "Using flashing protocol Mk II.". Guess, weird stuff like that happens.

Remove the battery, connected your N900 to the computer;
1- Enable R&D mode: flasher-3.5.exe –-enable-rd-mode
2- Cold flash with your Fiasco Image: flasher-3.5.exe -c -h RX-51:<hw_id> -F <FIASCO image> -f (The code "RX-51" used in the example is the product code for the N900 device. The <hw_id> is the product HW revision, which is a 4-digit code. Both product code and HW revision can be found from the type label of the device to be flashed. The type label is on the back of the device, underneath the battery. )
3- Disable R&D mode: flasher-3.5.exe –-disable-rd-mode
4- Insert the battery and reboot
