Facebook App

Hey all, I am new here but I can't find any apps other than the Status and Photo Upload widget. Is there a full Facebook App yet (like for iPhone/N97) or has one not been built?

Re: Facebook App

Seeing as the n900 is a computer and can access things directly, there isn't a lot of focus on things of this nature. Thus, more of the developing is on other programs.

^^^ what he said it should be simple to just access the web page just like on a computer because the n900 support's flash

Hi there,

There is a facebook app, it's in the N900 Ovi Store (http://store.ovi.mobi/content/22643?...kSource=browse). Works well as it gives you a widget that can be used on one of your desktops, which also shows any new mail/friend requests etc. best feature (IMO) of the app is integration with the share button on the N900, so photo's can be uploaded without needing to use a browser.

Cheers,

travla

edit: added link to ovi store app

Re: Facebook App

I would like to see a status updating app for Facebook--one where you can type the status in and submit it without having to go to the web page. Using the web is a little slow for that kind of thing, even with the http://lite.facebook.com page. Otherwise, for reading the site I find the website through the microb browser to be very good and not worth creating an app. And the built-in messaging works with the chat functions. And the ovi store app mentioned above lets you upload pictures directly. So there is not much more needed other than simpler status updates.

I am considering writing the status-update app...perhaps I should get off my butt and do it. I am interested in what geolocation stuff they are talking about adding to facebook and how that can be integrated, but that can be a feature for later.

Are there other features in an app you are interested in, or does this cover it? What would you envison in an app that would do what you like?

Re: Facebook App

theres one already called 'mstatus applet' .... its in the repos

once youve installed it, it sits in the status area and is dead easy to update your facebook (or many many other social network status's)

i would love a location app though ..... like where you click an 'update location now' button and it sticks a map on your facebook somehow with your location on it!

I have not checked it out because I don't want to have to work through ping.fm...I want one that works through facebook api directly.

I could be wrong on how the mstatus app works (i.e. through a third party site), so please correct me if I am.

Re: Facebook App

Question, why are you repeating the same threads mentioned before?
"I want a status updater"
"I want it to say via Nokia N900 just like it says facebook for iPhone"
"I don't want facebook chat integrated I want an app, like the iPhone"
"I want an app, like the iPhone"
and lots more, you can see them all in previous threads and you're repeating them here, if someone makes an app they won't hide it, trust me.

Re: Facebook App

you can also use the twitter conversations plugin to easily update your facebook status using the selective twitter facebook app(on facebook not the device) by simply putting a #fb has tag in your tweet.

still thirdparty, but your twitter account...

besides that the n900 has the best facebook app out there, a full browser

There is nothing wrong with saying something you've seen in another thread. If unoriginality were illegal, there would be no TV shows in the US. Lighten up and let people have a conversation.
