Re: Help With eMMC and N900 :(

Did you notice this?

Flashing the eMMC in the N900

When flashing the eMMC content, always flash the FIASCO/Rootfs image first, then the eMMC. Do not boot up the device between the two!

Re: Help With eMMC and N900 :(

im assuming you have the right USB drivers as youve done it before...

libusb
USB library (only for Windows and Mac OS X installations)

http://pc-connectivity.garage.maemo.....1.12.1.tar.gz

ive done both, flash eMMC first then FW, and visa versa. never had a problem.

Re: Help With eMMC and N900 :(

the only problems i seem to have are stupid ones,

you aint doing anything silly

you have full battery?
got the eMMC in your flasher directory?

also...would it not be easier to rename the eMMC to just rx51 to eliminate spelling errors and easier input

xenon-elite 2010-04-04 09:19

Re: Help With eMMC and N900 :(

No Errors You Can Use TAB<--> And It Auto Picks Up File.!

Yes Battery Is Full,

Funny Tho, Ive Mangaed To Flash It Many Times Before But Since I Flashed The MeeGo OS I Am Unable Too.

Hmmm

Letīs try to brake this down

- You have flashed vanilla image?
- Tell me how exactly you are trying to flash emmc? (whole work flow and order of things what you do)

I gave up with my quest to find responsiveness problemīs source on my device and flashed vanilla and emmc. I noticed that i could not flash emmc with current guide. Have to use vanillaīs guide to emmc flash. I think that guide needs really really good care and some Q&A testing.

Window 7 64x - Xp Mode - Start - Run - Cmd - Enter

cd c:\flash

c:\flash

flasher-3.5.exe -F OSImage.bin -f -R :- Writes Perfectly
flasher-3.5.exe -F eMMCImage.bin -f -R :- Finds Phone Puts It Into Flash mode, Then Looses Connection, Then Hangs On Looking For Device

When I flashed my N900 firmware/fiasco, in this step, right after flasher had exited on my win xp prompt my n900 booted and asked pin code. Did this happen to you?

I turned off my device (long press power key). Took usb cable off from N900 (left hooked to my computer). Waited so that screen is completely off. Pushed "u"-key and attached usb cable. N900 boots in flash mode. Started flasher from command prompt with switches and emmc image/vanilla.

No Pin.?

It Finds Image It Finds Phone,

As It Puts The Phone In Flasher Mode, Which It Should Already Be, When Connecting And Holding "U"

Im Just Baffeled.!

Be really specific.
Here it is how It went on me

1. Windows xp > cmd
2. USB attached to computer
3. "u"-key + attached micro-usb to N900
--> N900 boots to flash mode (screen with little usb-icon in upper right)
4. started flasher with fiasco/firmware image
5. flasher finds phone and uploads it
6. flasher exits back to prompt
7. N900 boots and asks my pin code (didn't type it)
8. (windows finds device as mass storage here)
9. I shut down N900, long press power button while in pin screen
10. Remove micro usb from n900
11. I start again from step 3. but now flasher with vanilla/emmc image

xenon-elite 2010-04-04 16:45

Re: Help With eMMC and N900 :(

OS

1. Windows xp > cmd
2. USB attached to computer
3. "u"-key + attached micro-usb to N900
--> N900 boots to flash mode (screen with little usb-icon in upper right)
4. started flasher with fiasco/firmware image
5. flasher finds phone and uploads it
6. flasher exits back to prompt
7. N900 boots and asks my pin code
8. (windows finds device as mass storage here)
9. I shut down N900, long press power button
10. Remove micro usb from n900

eMMC

1. Windows xp > cmd
2. USB attached to computer
3. "u"-key + attached micro-usb to N900
--> N900 boots to flash mode (screen with little usb-icon in upper right)
4. started flasher with eMMC image
5. flasher finds phone

OK. I would like to know did you do exactly as I did? I mean exactly! This is really really important.

Fiasco/firmware depends on your location/country and if I remember correctly the vanilla/emmc image is general "RX-51_2009SE_1.2009.41-1.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM.bin" image to all.

What Do You Mean Exaclty, I Listed The Order Of What I Did Just When It Comes To The eMMC Image It Dont Want To Play Nice,

I Have Flashed It Before So I Know What I Am Doing, Its Just Being Nauty For The eMMC Image

So I Guess Yeah I Did Exactly As You Did Else I Would Not Have Been Able To Flash OS.!

Re: Help With eMMC and N900 :(

My guide is different than guide in wiki (at least for vanilla/emmc) and i have seen n+1 number of different guides in blogs and here where people FIRST run flasher and AFTER that connect N900. In my opinion these kinds of "little" things matter A LOT.

I think that reason for little variation inguides is because of Win xp/Vista 32&64/ 7 32&64 and it could be that all these OS need a BIT little workflow. I do not know or iīm not sure about this just wild guess.

Guess is not enough in matter of how you did try to flash you emmc/vanilla. Please try again with emmc and with both workflows first mine and then the one in wiki :) Report here.

Ok only read bit of the thread, when i flashed my emmc in XP mode on Win7 64bit, i had to attch the phone in XP mode twice, and 2nd time it loaded different drivers if i remember correctly.

make sure when the phone connects for EMMC flash it loads drivers properly.

I didnt have any problems with firmware flash

Re: Help With eMMC and N900 :(

shocking no one posted a fix after all this time.

RESTART COMPUTER

PRESS F8 BEFORE WINDOWS LOGO APPEARS

SELECT "DISABLE DRIVER SIGNATURE ENFORCEMENT"

retry flashing with emmc

worked for me...
