Amstrad CPC emulator for Maemo
 

CPCm is an emulator for the CPC 8 bit computer family from Amstrad. It's based on the CAP32 sources by Ludovic Jacomme, which itself is a port of the Caprice32 emulator by Ulrich Doewich.
It has an UI based on osso-games-startup much like picodrive or drnoksnes. To go back to the main menu, just press CTRL-BACKSPACE or tap the upper right screen corner. This automatically saves the current emulation session so it can be resumed later.
This first release also allows the configuration of up to 2 virtual joysticks and their mappings to the N900 keys, touchscreen or accelerometer.
It's now available for download from extras-devel.

Just like you would on a real CPC, Shift+2.
In N900 terms that would mean Shift+Sym+w

Key config doesn't seem to work, it seems stuck on q,w,p,l and space

I know that to load you type

cat > then return - and a list comes up of the file names

then type

run" < file name > " then return.

and the game will load

But it is a pain in the backside.:rolleyes:

ZX-81 ported the same emu for the gp2x wiz and it loads automatically which saves alot of messing.

Press these in this order.

Hold down - shift key and blue function key

then press the letter v.

Shift + Sym + whichever key in your keyboard that shows the '2' or '"' symbol. Both are valid.

It seems that joy1 and joy2 mappings are reversed by mistake. I'll upload a fix ASAP.
BTW, joy mappings will only work for games that accept joystick input. Just saying :)

It's currently in development. Funny you mention ZX-81 as I'm working upon his version already :)

sym + function + 2

and

shift + function + v

But the " symbol is above N and that doesn't work.

Damn, you're right. You're all stuck with a Spanish layout :D

Can you get the '2' in any way? If you can, then just add Shift to that combination.

function + w gets = 2

if i add shift to it

function + shift + w = 2

or vice versa = 2

Auto load function would sort this. lol :D:D:D:D

Exact steps are:

-Hold Shift
-Hold Sym (blue arrow)
-Press 2

And you'll get '"'.
This is valid for every symbol out there. Press 3 to get '#', 4 to get '$', etc. Order matters, you always hold Shift first.

I just released a quick fix for the joystick mapping issue. Some accelerometer problems have been fixed as well. New version is 1.05.


Riiiiight.
I think we should figure out a standard, unambiguous name for that "blue arrow" key. Obviously "Sym" didn't make the cut :)

I downloaded the AWESOME (judging by the video) Orion Prime (http://op.cpcscene.com/) and when I get past the shuttle door, I get a "please insert side 2" or something ...

Any ideas?

Second... as a retrocomputing freak, I must beg you for "green screen" option if possible... my CPC was the cheapy green one... so much colour confusses my mind and I fell playing PS3 games instead 85's The Galactic Plague.

No, it shouldn't... you have not autoload when using a physical CPC... but real-time tape load experience would be amazing! ;-)

I have some annoying issues playing games like Catch23, Elite, Dragontorc etc...
3D graphics seems to be very slow...
When 3D games will run smooth at 60fps?

Screenshots (or any other system shortcut, for that matter) don't work with SDL in fullscreen mode. Not sure how to work around this...

The game I mentioned (Orion Prime) only runs on WinAPE if you disable 'fast disk emulation' - does this help?

I have to ask... why would you want to inflict such amount of pain on yourself? :D

You must have missed the "hardware accelerated vertex/pixel shaders" option...

By 'work' I mean getting past the first room. It does boot, but asks you to insert side 1 (which is already inserted).

Also, to be able to work with the 3" version, shortcuts for loading extra disks inside the emu would be nice, but I guess going back to the UI for that works too.
