i secsessed to make a full portable windows xp (not bartpe) on my micro sd card and to boot on any computer . i use modified xp cd installation and install on a fat32 16g microsd card than i simple boot from nokia. BARTPE i use pe2usb and add minint folder to the micro sd ubontu i simple extract ubunto live cd to the micro sd erd2005 i use erd.iso and ram_xp.img acronis i use acronismedia.iso i also add more many useful bootble tools all work fine for loader i use grub4dos (install grldr to microsd and add menu.lst for th menu items) but for do it perfect i want install full win7 on the sd , i already have win7 on my disk on key its work fine.... for install win7 i must format the micro with ntfs file system. i has install client modules ntfs but the n900 not recognize the sd... what can i do??? |

So you succeeded in booting Win XP on the N900 ? if so, how did you do that ? :)

1. you need to modified the xp installation cd see this link
2. power off or eject all other local hd drives 3. boot from your modified cd and install winxp normally onto micro sd |

Wild guess: do you mean you installed Windows 7 on microSD, then put the microSD into the Nokia N900, then connected the Nokia N900 to a computer via USB, then booted Windows 7 in that computer from the microSD in the N900?
If so, then I at least misunderstood you (and I guess most current readers of this post)... may I suggest editing the thread name and/or post? |

i secsessed all i post... all but the win7 becose i canot install on fat32...
how can i add ntfs support ??? (all those installations i use the sd directly from the n900 not from Adapter ) |

When you say modified..was it modified to run on an ARM CPU? The dependencies would be all wrong..
And did the OS boot from the start ie choose whether Maemo or XP. Or did you boot XP from Maemo? |

Win XP/7 won't boot in the N900 since there are no ARM versions. The only way is to use some kind of an emulator, but then the speed won't be anything to write home about.
I understood that he's booting XP/7 on his PC from the N900's mass storage. Also I have no idea what "secsessed" is supposed to mean here. The word is not in the dictionary. |

it's actually pretty cool to be able to have a portable windows version always available :)

He's just asking for the NTFS kernel modules. They're easy enough to build. Weren't they packaged already iirc?
(dunno about ntfs-3g, never tried and never felt the need so far). |

there is a lot of confusion in this thread, due mainly to the broken English.
from what i can see, the original post was meant to say that: 1. They have successfully managed to get a PC bootable installation of Windows XP on a microSD card, and by using the N900 as a microSD card reader, using the mentioned card to boot up their PC from the N900 2. The original poster would prefer to have Windows 7 on the microSD card, but after formatting the card (i would assume with Windows on a PC, via the N900 acting as a card reader) the N900 cannot see the microSD card anymore, and is asking for assistance. i would suggest that Windows 7 will give you a headache here, since it seems that you need underlying system support in maemo so that the N900 can recognise the NTFS formatted microSD card. |

i make this project 1 year ago , now i just put it in my n900.....

i do not understand this, are you saying you can boot windows on n900 or you have put windows files on microSD which is n900 and you can connect n900 to a pc and boot windows?
if its the latter then its nothing new and not really for n900 section, myabe i'm confused :S |
