Re Flashed N900 - Yay - But Help

Reflashed my N900 and it works. YAY!
However, I have a symbol of a Sim card next to the time with a red line thru it. I have took the Sim Card out and out it in, locked the Sim Card slot etc. Any ideas?
Also it says I has 74 MB of Dive memory and 146 MB of memory for Installation Applications. WTF ?

Re: Re Flashed N900 - Yay - But Help

Did you reflash with the latest image?
You might have went one firmware backwards (downgrading), and the new modem firmware doesn't work with old firmware.

charlieboy 2010-04-13 14:50

Re: Re Flashed N900 - Yay - But Help

I can now make and receive calls. but the memory that should be free is only about 62MB as opposed to GB!

lucas777 2010-04-13 14:50

Re: Re Flashed N900 - Yay - But Help

Happened to me almost a month ago and it got fixed after i downloaded a 90+ Mb update. Go to app manager and update (use wifi, it will take some time depending on your internet connection). After it is done, it will restart and it should be working again.

EDIT: thatīs for the sim card not working issue.

lucas777 2010-04-13 14:56

Re: Re Flashed N900 - Yay - But Help

Re: Re Flashed N900 - Yay - But Help

Liucas, downloaded the vanilla image.
Do I then flash it with the same command:-

flasher-3.5.exe -F RX-51_2009SE_1.2009.41-1.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM.bin -f -R

lucas777 2010-04-13 15:05

Re: Re Flashed N900 - Yay - But Help

yes whatever that vanilla command is do that exactly the same

lucas777 2010-04-13 15:06

Re: Re Flashed N900 - Yay - But Help

you may have to flash it a few times though some people said it doesnt flash it all one go, but try it one time check if it worked then if not do it again

If not backup MyDocs and reflash the eMMC

Edit: You have to flash the fiasco image again, then the eMMC
Remove the -R option when flashing the FIASCO image.

Re: Re Flashed N900 - Yay - But Help

ok, it says never boot the device before installing the emmc, yet you have to do the firmware first, which aito reboots anyway. Is it safe to flash the emms after its' rebooted?

No, read the wiki again.
"Flash the FIASCO/rootfs image first using the above commands, WTIHOUT the -R at the end of the command. "
DO NOT add -R when reflashing the fiasco image.
Code:

flasher-3.5.exe -F filename.bin -f
flasher-3.5.exe -F RX-51_2009SE_1.2009.41-1.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM.bin -f -R

charlieboy 2010-04-13 15:15

Re: Re Flashed N900 - Yay - But Help

Ok, tried omitting the -R, but it did nothing

charlieboy 2010-04-13 15:20

Re: Re Flashed N900 - Yay - But Help

Tried the vanilla with the above command. It says error code 1 and back to pro mpt the N900 hangs

It will flash without rebooting, you then have to reflash the eMMC :/

charlieboy 2010-04-13 15:25

Re: Re Flashed N900 - Yay - But Help

Ok. This what I have done. Flashed the device with latest firmware (UK). Success (Omitted the -R)

I then entered the flasher-3.5.exe -F RX-51_2009SE_1.2009.41-1.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM.bin -f -R

And the system asked for USB connection, then went through code, the N900 showed the 4 white dots, cycled through them and hung.
The terminal in XP showed error 1 code.

Am I doing it correct?

charlieboy 2010-04-13 15:27

Re: Re Flashed N900 - Yay - But Help

It then find the USB, then boots the device in flash mode
and then:-
SU_GET_UPDATE_STATUS_REQ terminated with error code 1

the N900 hangs on the white dots

charlieboy 2010-04-13 15:44

Re: Re Flashed N900 - Yay - But Help

Done it both a success.
But Still 70 MB memeory

What's the output from "df -h" now? Is it still failing to mount the eMMC partitions?

charlieboy 2010-04-13 18:02

Re: Re Flashed N900 - Yay - But Help

It doesn't recognize the USB? When only minutes earlier it installed the firmware ok :(

When it did mount the emmc, it rebooted ok, yet the memory was only 70MB free.

the out put from dh is still the same as I earlier posted.

It's fustrating as my phone is as much use as a brick.

charlieboy 2010-04-13 20:56

Re: Re Flashed N900 - Yay - But Help

Tried everything, but still get the awaiting USB and then Error Code 1 message. To me, it should be simple, yet the whole thing is flawed as some devices work but this method, others do not. Flashes ok, but the EMMC just awaits the USB and then Error. Still got low memory, yet surely it should have a factory reset facility that works.

Re: Re Flashed N900 - Yay - But Help

All I can suggest is using another OS to flash the eMMC - a bootable linux distribution for example.

geneven 2010-04-14 01:45

Re: Re Flashed N900 - Yay - But Help

It sounds to me like you are reading the rootfs memory. 70 mb is about right for that.

charlieboy 2010-04-14 08:09

Re: Re Flashed N900 - Yay - But Help

Any suggestions, have tried on XP and Vista, OS flashes fine, but the EMMC - error 1.

I am trying again, and if no success, back to Nokia :(

I had problems trying to flash the eMMC on XP as well. I used a bootable linux CD (e.g. Ubuntu) and it flashed first time from there.

Re: Re Flashed N900 - Yay - But Help

I am going to send it back to Nokia today, I am not happy at all.
The device was working superbly, and I was always careful what I put on etc. Then it rebooted, and kept on rebooting.
