Slippy Slider
My slider has become so loose that when i slide it to expose the keyboard, there is a substantial gap on the right hand side. If I turn it on the side I can see a gap right through to the base section (if that makes sense). I'm not too sure what it is that needs tightening, if anything, or if this is going to be a case of replacing a part or something. Does anyone have any ideas????

Re: Slippy Slider
hi, i am having the exact same problem, i can see a gap at the top right corner.
just curious georgefjones did you get yours in carephone warehouse uk? |
Re: Slippy Slider
anyone has the same problem? any known solution?
that gap is pxxxing me off =( any help is much appreciated |
Re: Slippy Slider
Yeah mine is in the right hand corner, and yes i did get it in carphonewarehouse uk. I've had it appart and everything and couldn't see anything that was loose or needed tightening.
I think it's a flaw in the build to be honest, which is pretty poor for such a 'high end' device. |
Re: Slippy Slider
same thought mate. actually this is my 4th device, i exchanged it 3 times within the 28 days return thing.
I heard experiences of a few friends having bad times with carephone warehouse phones, donno if they are just odd cases but the quality control of nokia is disappointing. i doubt its a design flaw, i dont see many people having the same problem. as far as i can remember, you are the first one apart from me. i dont have the guts to open this thing up LOL but thanks for informing me that nothing is loose inside so i can put that thought aside. |
Re: Slippy Slider
This is a well known issue and discussed at length: see http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=38962 and the therein mentioned links to instructive videos on how to remedy this problem.

Re: Slippy Slider
hi, thanks for the link, actaully i have read it before and watched the video before as well, but im not too sure about opening it up...put it another way...im scared of breaking a 500pounds device especially when nokia uk takes forever to get things fixed...
maybe i just have to live with it until it gets to apoint where the slider falls apart from the base, and then i will have no choice but to send it back.. |
Re: Slippy Slider
no trying to be a dxck, but the gap is really pissing me off...is taking it apart the only way to 'TRY' and solve the problem?
|
Re: Slippy Slider
Besides that you can visually see it and keyboard comes bit more easily out what are the other disadvantages here?
|
Re: Slippy Slider
well, since the right side of the screen is further up than the left, the screen is now unparalleled with the base.
in other words when you hold up the device and type, the screen is tilted. |
Re: Slippy Slider
Okey then thatīs not good. But then again we are talking about these kinds of things:
http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...0&postcount=30 (I didnīt notice any tilt in that post and laughed to poster. Yes there seems to be little tilt after all, i could regonize it with my paint programs ruler :D) But if it really doesnīt lock in its place then it probably should be taken to Nokia support. |
Re: Slippy Slider
hi, yes i read that post before, actually im not entirely sure if its just my imagination or has the slide gone worse, because gap was noticed a month ago, and back then i didnt notice the tilt, until recently it just magically appear.
could just be me but it really is annoying to be on a 500pounds device. yea i was gonna take it back to carephone warehouse cuz they will send it off on my behalf, but they said it'll take up to 28 days, and by that time i will be on holiday in hong kong and not coming back until September.... not the quickest repair service i have to say... |
