Is it possible to reduce/increase from the 4 desktop limit?

Hey

I was wondering if it was possible to have less/more than 4 desktops. Other window managers on Linux (such as Compiz) allow this so....

Thanks

Yes, you can have up to 9. Search this forum, someone posted the way to do it a while back.

Yes. Put your desktop in change mode, hit the status bar and look at Manage Views--for less. I already found the link for someone else for more within the last hour and don't feel like searching again.

oh, here it is

On a side/related topic, can every (say) 5 seconds the desktop be changed? I mean by this that once 5 seconds pass, it changes to another desktop and so fore. Or changes the wallpaper on the desktop to something else.

Hmm.. Im not sure why you would want you desktop to change automatically as it sounds like it would be very annoying.. There is some sort of "live wallpaper" widget floating around which seems quite cool.

That's a cool idea.

I think I heard of some background that changes automatically like that.

Check out this site. If it exists, they must have it.

Im not sure if you understood me or I did not understand you.

Lets say I have a001.jpg to a100.jpg (100 pictures) in a folder in my Maemo device. With what I am looking for, it would randomly (5, 10, 20 seconds, or 5 minutes) change to another picture. If it was on a001.jpg it could change to a023.jpg.

Yes but I imagine that is a small photo frame; I want it for the wallpaper on each desktop :)

In other words, he wants to set the background as a slideshow, I think it's a feature in Windows 7.

It is a feature in Windows 7. So the solution would be: Install Windows 7 on your N900.
:p

Considering that we already got live wallpaper and Nokia supported live wallpaper in next update i wouldn't think it's too hard to do?

Yes, thats exactly what Id like to do :) But if they just change from one to another without being a slideshow, I guess that would be OK as well :)

Exactly; Im thinking it would actually be possible with a cron job but not sure how to implant it exactly.

I was suggesting that you check out that site because they are wallpaper specialists. It sounds like that site might know something about that. If not, I'll give you double your money back.

I understood what you were saying.

Im going to make a new topic since it may get confusing with what I am currently asking.

Thanks to all :)
