Don't like capacitive screens myself. I have always used the nip of my nail for the screen. I also have a pen stylus that I use also. A capacitive screen would reduce functionality for me. I find using my brothers iphone very annoying because of this.

i hate the friggle screens on the ipods and iphones, so gay if you just sneeze on them u open an application. N900 has the best sreen and its my first touch screen, ive used other peoples iphones just hate them so much

Same here. I got Ipod Touch for my music system (or that for it was before i bought n900). Capasitive screen is much less snappier or .... ... how would i say. Resistive is like sniper rifle and capasite is more like shotgun. Less ... oh, well. Something.

Can a phone be 'Gay'?

Is that a function of nature or nurture - are phones designed & manufactured homosexual, or do they turn gay because of something that happens to them when they're confined in the phone shop with lots of other phones of the same type?

Perhaps gay phones have 'gaydar' and can search out and locate other gay phones... maybe there are clubs where gay phones hang out and enjoy each other's company, wear leather caps and drink imported lager...

This is the 21st Century. There is no shame in holding a gay phone - wear your pink silicone case with pride!

I don't think this is the best phone ever ... it still needs improvement, especially on the phone side, but I think HTC's HD 4G will be something to recon with, and from the reviews I have read, it may get this title. I was waiting for Xperia X10, SE released it recently & what a major disappointment it is, like X1, SE managed to screw up X10 as well which could have been thier 'comeback' phone. Keeping fingers crossed for HTC now.

I'm not familiar with australian english, perhaps they've implemented grammatical genders into the language. In that case, if the word in question is the same gender as the writer and he has certain affection toward it - then it would be called gay?

No, we don't give words (or inanimate objects) genders. Unless we're talking about NokTokDaddy's Japanese Love Pillow ;) (kidding).

Anyway, I don't agree that the iPhone is gay. Stephen Fry may be gay, but he is also incredibly clever and funny so I don't care about his sexuality. If anything, he is more geeky than camp (you're more likely to see paparazzi shots of him fondling an iPad than fondling a man...

That said, I do think my N900 is great for me. If I had the money to have everything Apple, buy my media from iTunes, then I probably would. There are some things Linux isn't too great at, although, with the Digital Media bill or whatever it's called. I think I may have to 'go legit' and use iTunes for my TV shows and films. :(

You will like the N900 even more when you install Easy Debian on it. Don't know about the sexual merits of it though.

I'n dissmayed that someone has not yet pointed out that the N900 is not actualy a phone. It is in fact an Internet Tablet with phone funcionality.... ;-)

Seriously, big respect to Stephen Fry (of whom I am a big fan), people of all genders and even the iphone - these are exciting times for mobile phones and perhaps we should close this thread and pursue more serious matters now...

A gay phone now there's a novel idea, I've have 3 phones on trial, iphone 3GS, n900 and the desire.
The iphone is history for a number of reasons, the battery change hassle, multitasking, the strong possibility that the the next OS will not provide multitasking for 3G iphone and the pricing plans dictated by Apple.

The N900 and desire both are brilliant devices in their own right, if Nokia had ported the same core phone features onto the N900 plus a better battery, it would be by far the best phone.

Both have a great amount of future proofing compared to the iphone and are superior in so many areas that you'd have to be a bit dim to opt for the iphone.
