Looks like I'm still employed

To those who knew I was to be let go from a certain (*ahem*) company this April, another QA position has been created for me withn the same company at a nearby location. I don't know if I'll have any more official involvement with the N800 but rest assured I will do what I can from the inside to support the success of this product line.

:)

Excellent news Texrat, I hope you will enjoy your new role and I also hope you continue to visit these forums with your occasional tidbits of insider information! :)

I assume this means you won't now be entering the PopSci competition? :D

Looks like I spoke too soon. I don't have good feelings about the latter 1/3 of the interview. We'll see.

Aha, now I understand what you have meant with "severance date"...
I thought about a divorce or something else  But since I am from Germany and have no idea of anything, especially English, I am excused :D

Wish ya luck at your new job :)

Actually, Haijin, I'm just getting into the linux world after having been in the Microsoft universe (VB, SQL) for many years. Can't really locate to Finland, either... lol. I've enjoyed working with Finns, though, and hope to continue.

Re: Looks like I'm still employed

*whew*

Got the official job offer today! Now we just need to work out the start date (especially since the company still has me down to be terminated April 13 I'm sure).

Funny part is, I was invited to another interview for tomorrow afternoon! Dammit, though, the first manager wants an answer by Wednesday. Not much time to play them off against each other...
:D

Congrats Texrat!!!

Re: Looks like I'm still employed

Well crap!

As some already know, I've been hospitalized due to kidney stones (since Tuesday)... which means I missed saying goodbye to my co-workers that are leaving a certain closing factory. Tomorrow is their last day. :(

And to complicate things further, I read in our corporate news releases that there was ANOTHER operations realignment-- just as I'm about to start my new position supporting a region (Americas) that just ceased to exist!!!

Ay yi yi. My new boss was promoted to a global position, when means she'll likely relocate. I can't right now. So... back to square 1 maybe...

:/

Re: Looks like I'm still employed

What shocks me is that you read about this in a corp news release - nobody bothered to inform you beforehand? That's bad. :( Typical corporate bollox though.

I hope your new position is safe but if not that find something to your liking soon as I'm sure you can do without all this aggravation. :)

Texrat 2007-04-13 02:04

Re: Looks like I'm still employed

Well, not to defend the bollox-diffusers, but there really wasn't any other way to present this than the way they did, given circumstances I can't go into. Besides, I did have suspicions based on earlier communications and movements-- just no hard proof that it would extend into my domain. My boss being promoted cured me of that ignorance. ;)

I think I need to contact that other manager and see if he still needs someone-- THAT position just might be more secure! lol.
