Mail client problem when using Lithuanian characters
Mail client on N900 is terrible. When open it the circle rolls for half a minute, then when I try to open a mail it says failed to retrieve message from server, or something like that on some letters. Yesterday I got important mail and it looked like that
Hello, ? John Steart Address Phone WTF? Today I checked my mail when I was still in bed, oh great no new mails. NO! There was 5 when I logged in on gmail.com. Any solutions? Thanks :) |
Re: Mail client is crap on N900
Sounds strange to me. Here everything works fine, push email as well.
Which provider do you use? |
Re: Mail client is crap on N900
GMAIL, all default settings. Also I am on WIFI.
P.S. There where is ? on my first post was a simple text no image or flash just text when i logged on gmail.com. |
Re: Mail client is crap on N900
works fine here also, both gmail and windows live mail, not sure what the problem could be, do you use pop3 or imap? maybe check the settings in googles mail site itself?

The fact that you can't mark more than one messages as read alone makes it awful. |
Re: Mail client is crap on N900
OP, while I agree that the client is not exactly great, I must say that the problems you describe does not sound like the common flaws of the email client. Do you have a giant mailbox? I hear that big mailboxes can cause problems.

I also agree that the client is not very good. I use IMAP and POP3 and it regularly stalls, fails to delete, closes down. |
Re: Mail client is crap on N900
Ok since this will not be fixed i guess. Can anyone help me to access mobile version of gmail? Like the one for android or iphone? Should i change user agent o just a link will do?

Re: Mail client is crap on N900
Another thread where I raise Both eyebrows:
Why do people even respond? A Thread with "Mail client is crap on N900" as the title is no constructive post or help request, therefor there's absolutely no reason for people who have no problems with their device to post anything in response. It's a simple whine thread...right? |

install hide-user-agent go to settings->hide-user-agent set user agent to Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.1; en-us; dream) AppleWebKit/525.10+ (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.0.4 Mobile Safari/523.12.2 for android or Mozilla/5.0(iPad; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/531.21.10 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.4 Mobile/7B314 Safari/531.21.10 for iPad and so on... the iPad double pane gmail doesnt work that well and android I did not try yet. My useragent is set to something generic IE8 to prevent sites from showing me a 'mobile' version feeling lucky? |

OK? Rephrase, cut down on your language, in the end YOU want something from US, so be kind, be informative, be supportive, and you will be helped. As of now, you haven't really given us a bunch of information about your specific situation, so Im not sure whether we can help you out by using what you've supplied so far. As I stated previously, for most of us the Email Client works fine, so Im sure there's is no reason why it shouldn't work for you. EDIT: I agree, it's not the most sophisticated Mail client Nokia ever developed, but the most basic things work for me just fine, so Im not complaining :) |

Now setup Nokia Messaging on your n900, thats it. It takes the account information from your email.nokia.com account and if you have setup gmail there, it will automatically pick up gmail and set it up on your n900. |

Sadly the email client is having a problem with the Lithuanian alphabet and that is what makes it appear crap to you - maybe someone can come up with a package to patch it (changing locale doesn't work). |

Re: Mail client is crap on N900
Having used Nokia messaging since it launched a few years ago, let me say that the implementation on the N900 is easily the best one on all Nokia devices. I use my N900 as my primary email device and have never had any delays in message recep.tion. The only time it doesn't retrieve is when the battery is low.
