[Announce] Pull My Finger - Fart App
 

Oh come on.... it's been coming for a while! - the app that is ;)
Just thought i'd put it down on the forums :)

Will start it properly once i've finished tinkering with Healthcheck - but got the basic idea working....

5 fingers are shown on the screen (imagine horizontal or Vertical - so auto-rotate)
You pull a finger
It makes a fart noise.....

Possible functions:

• Different fingers have different pitches?
• Insert your own sounds maybe?
• Change the hand image (ie gorillas hand.... Very cadbury'esque)

Looking for a bit of fun and entertainment, so give me your suggestions please! :D
This is going to be another learning curve for me! - So i'll see what i can do! :D :D
(Pulling the little finger could cause such a fart that flashes the camera leds, device led's, vibrates and generally makes the device go nuts?

How about pulling a different finger opens up a different app? (Desktop widget version!!!? - talk about animated backgrounds!)

I'm on for testing :D You might call me childish and then again i have a 4 year old that would just love this app to paly with and at that age farts are fun. Well still is... ;)

Yeh, although the N900 is a niche market there's always room for taking the <ahem> a bit - more fun apps! If you can load games onto it, why not load other bloatware that makes people laugh! You can't say it's short of storage really!

Aaaaah no, it will be my first 1.2 app - using the new QT stuff :D - so expect it in 2/3 weeks after 1.2 :D - hopefully this year then!

can we have a fart -ometer that actually measures the sound pressure of real farts , and shows the number of fingers , ie fart app in reverse.:D

Ahahahaha thats gold... but serious finally a fart app... maybe u could make use of stereo output and have the fart swap channels for a 3d effect or go from a loud one from left to a squeak on the right channel lol

any suggestions on best thing/widget to hold the image and can be manipulated? - thinking of dragging and pivoting from a point....

Any suggestions on the sound? - was thinking gstreamer again - seems to work. Not so sure on how to control it as it is playing, ie, if you drag the finger, it gets louder, pull up or down for pitch? ;)

hehe it's not really delaying it - got enough with healthcheck on the go - but its just another way for me to learn, and why not use the new stuff :D - could really start sooner and set up the SDK - but as above, healthcheck takes priority at the moment!

I knew it was coming and now I'm happy it will be. Beleive it or not it is the small apps like this that will drive more people into creating applications for the N900.

There we go.

A mobile platform is not considered mainstream or successful until some kind of fart application is publically available.

It seems we are within spitting distance (my arse was this morning after last nights pakora) of achieving this.

What you can do for future release (or is that squeeze and release?) is allow users to send farts to each other then rate and classify (e.g. trumpet, watery,) them?

I have one more request for everyone, i will borrow frals great naming conventions and expect you all to come up with good ones.

I love that on your resumé you're going to have one app called Healthcheck, and another called MeFarts :D


Anyway, how about a fart-sequencer?

That way you could set up a sequence of farts of various tones and timbres along a time-line, and then have them play back (possibly after a timer has run out, or via BlueTooth trigger)

So, what could this fart app provide that the iPhone one couldn't?

Three things come to mind: Stylus support , less restrictive (I guess?) "app store" and multitasking.

The stylus way to beat the iPhone would be to somehow have more precision in the farting. (I'm not sure I know what that means and I'm not saying the things that spring to mind are of any value.)

The appstore guardianship according to Mr Jobs's morals could be used to beat the iPhone with some graphic graphics to accompany the farting. (Not sure I'd really want that though.)

Multitasking...?

In what other ways that might have relevance to a fart app does the N900 beat the iPhone?

Just a question, You developing this with the new "Qt Mobility Beta" framework? so it's supposed to run on PR1.2? how did you test it? did you use the simulator? did you use madde? did qtcreator ever crash for you?

I really hope you havent just downloaded some 'fart' sounds as im sure you will be infringing some copyright law

You really should provide your 'own farts' to make this app truly your own :D
