Hi everyone. Firstly I don't actually know how many people on this forum are actually UK based! Otherwise you probably wont give a stuff about this thread haha.

So if you live in the UK or if you don't but are somehow interested then feel free to take part!

The way I see it a minority government will be exactly what the UK doesn't need right now, so here's hoping the tories walk away with it.

I remember the last tory government, people have very short memories, so I'll be voting Labour. David Cameron reminds me of Max Headroom and I dont know why!

I can`t vote tory, as i too remember the last time and i`m not voting labour - made that mistake last time.

Any time i`ve ever watched question time on BBC, the lib dems regardless of who was on the show were always the only one who talked any sense - that and they were the only party against the iraq war, so they`ll be getting my vote.

Which ever gets in, I would like Vince as Chancellor. He seems to actually understand economics unlike Darling and the other one.

We're probably not representative at all, I would think a lib dem heavy vote from a forum based around a technical subject for (mostly) young(er) age group is relatively unsuprising.
My poll vote went for tory, but given the choice i'd vote for lib dem as well (despite disagreeing utterly with their policy on Trident renewal) but for me (and probably a lot of people) it's more a tactical vote:
I can't see lib dem having any real chance of realistically winning a majority in any way, and having a hung parliment leading to a minority government right now would be bad, so my vote will go to the most likely winner that's not labour, ie tory.

For the first time in 5 elections I have a chance to vote for the party I like the most instead of the party I dislike the least. So who can I vote for.. and what will they do for me..

I couldn't vote for labour and socialism (especially the way that Labour has veered off to the left in the last 3 years - while we've had an unelected leader..) its not my natural philosophy and I think they've screwed things up in the last 13 years.

I wouldn't vote for the Conservatives and their xenophobia, job cuts and higher interest rates.

I like the Liberals; economically they speak common sense, they speak of social fairness, they were the only party that didn't take the p*ss with expenses, they were the only party that thought invading Iraq was a bad idea (which it turned out to be by destabilizing the region and making the UK less safe as a result). I still need to be convinced that PR is a good idea.

ps: polling at 36% in some surveys.. that's only 5 points from a clear majority in parliament (so maybe it is possible for Liberal's to win)

Gordon Brown and Labour are consistently in 3rd place with about 26%.. ouch! and what's more they seem to accept that position as a fair summary??!

if the spin doctors are correct it seems like its a 2 horse race between Liberals and Conservatives

Not much need to elaborate as its all been said already, but I'm going out to vote Lib Dem and I'll be voting (as someone else said) for the party I actually want this time, unlike my previous Labour tactical votes.

After last night, Clegg has continued to grow in popularity and he really does have a chance. I think this time, all those tactical lib dem voters need to take a gamble because this is the first time in history that they've got a real chance. I work in the NHS, so would never vote Tory as they're already threatening my job... Labour had their chance and although their term wasn't too bad (compared to Thatcher and Major), Brown isn't the right man to lead them or the country.

I completely agree with their stance on Trident, their economic policy makes perfect sense, as does their immirgation... So yes, voting Nick!

Our UKIP candidate has just died. That means that the Thirsk and Malton seat will be voted for on the 27th now.

There's a very real possibility that one seat could make a difference. All eyes will be on Malton and Thirsk!

I was going to spoil my paper. Spoilt papers are counted and recorded. However, I'm paying more and more interest in the Lib Dems.

I remember the Thatcher years. Unforgivable. I'm still in the Blair/Brown years. Also unforgivable.

I'd vote LibDem if it wasn't for the fact that they want to abolish the Pound for the Euro. The Euro is a doomed currency, look at Greece as a good example, economy in dire straits and they have no control over what happens. We can still just print a few more notes, inflation creeps up a bit but the economy recovers.
Maybe if the Euro is abandoned and the "Euro mk2" comes around, but the rules will have to change for it to work.

So I have decided to vote for the Party that brings us PR1.2 !! :p

I think that the UK electorate have matured a lot in the last ten years and that the three main parties don't give us enough credit for our ability to see the wider picture. They only have to consider our collective response to the credit crunch over the last two years to see what a great bunch we are. Sure there are ups and downs, and we've seen that when any party has an overall majority for a sustained period, things start to go wrong. We've also learned from the 70's that rapid and successive changes of leadership do no good at all.

I was watching QT (the other QT) last night and it struck me how a considerable contingent in the audience seemed to actively WANT to see what we call a 'hung parliament'. I really do think that our politicians are capable of being able to work together now more than ever in history and it may be just the right time to take a brave leap to see how it works out.

Edit: For the record, I'm in an ultra-key marginal Lab/Con constituency due to boundary changes, but have always been a Labour voter. I'll be 'Tramping The Dirt Down' when the mother of a thousand dead finally gets put down.

excuse the economic ignorance here.. but,

if we trade in the £ for the € don't we write off all the 'quantitative easing' that we've been getting up to the last 18 months while keeping interest rates at next to nothing (inflation is coming ladies and gentlemen especially with the overspend the Olympics will end up costing)..

ps: with the maemo poll at the moment, ie: Lib 42%, Con 26%, Lab 18%, that would mean that Liberals have 436 seats, a 222 seat majority.Conservatives 106 seats. Labour 79 seats.

It's ok.. a vote for the current Labour party isn't a vote for anything even vaguely approaching socialism! lol

On a more serious note, I think the lib dems have my vote.. I doubt a hung parliament or one of the other parties will provide what we really need which IMHO is a government that will stop public enterprise running riot and then demanding support from the public purse - the bankers just being the latest in a long line that expect the government - ie us - to bail them out when they mess up!

What worries me is that people are making a decision to vote based on a television performance and not the actual policies. All hyped up by the media no doubt and I'm sure many will not be taken in by superficial questioning and shallow integregation but many more will cast their vote based on a TV debate.

I have had a look at the policies of the main parties and the others and I was absolutely shocked by the policies of one party in particular. It would complete the decline of the UK if they ever got to power and the polls are raving about them.

Anyhow, I don't mind letting everyone know that as a lifelong labour supporter (unfortunately the most ungodly government this nation has seen for 100s of years) to voting for the blues.

I think Gordon Brown should have had a Clegg style weekend off.. he looks exhausted.

I wonder when the last time he had a foot rub and a BJ was..

feeling sorry for some 1 isn't a reason to vote for them; but I do feel for him.

By the way, does any 1 else see similarities between Clegg and Blair (you can have it all, trust me 'Im a nice guy', 'things can only get better') at least in presentational style.. I must say his misses is allot easier on the eye than Cherie was :P
