SpiderOak possible on Maemo devices?

Considering that SpiderOak supports Ubuntu/Debian/Fedora - would it be possible to get it to work on Maemo devices?

Maybe, but since it is a closed-source application you'd have to ask them to make a Maemo build.

If their coding practices aren't terrible (and since they already support Debian/Ubuntu) then they might be able to...

Well, their interface is very custom so not very likely. On the other hand JungleDisk's linux version is pure Gtk+ based so its probably portable (and I really like them :)

Available, but how do you register this present? I don't have a username or password.

Haha, it only took a year for this.

Do note, the RC file stores username and password in a world readable plaintext file.

I checked out the interface, and it's certainly not as easy to use as DropBox (which I also don't use, admittedly, because of distrust). Since they've released the source for the python client maybe someone can develop a better UI for it.

The annoying thing was that I couldn't get the desktop client to *not* want to search my whole user-space for files to back up. And you couldn't create sync folders until you did that... so.... no go for me.

Update! New version lets you choose if you want to save password or not.

Re: SpiderOak possible on Maemo devices?

@manifesto42 This happend because SpiderOak changed the SSL-certificate last week. Sorry for that.

The new Version 1.1 (update with the Program-Manager) accepts the new certificate and fixes this problem.

Re: SpiderOak possible on Maemo devices?

That was the problem. It happened on the desktop client also, but was fixed quickly. On the n900 it only took a bit longer. no worries. Thanks.

Re: SpiderOak possible on Maemo devices?

I cannot figure out how to use SpiderOak on my N900.
I have registered my account on their website and my Maemo client can connect.

But the only thing I can do is browse the files already uploaded to the cloud, and download a single file. This is pretty useless.

What I would need is to be able to define a sync folder on my N900 which is sync'd between my N900 and my other systems (Ubuntu and Macs). How am I supposed to get this done?
Thanks for any help.

Well, they dropped support for the native app, but the mobile app is HTML5 and open source. So maybe it can be made run on Maemo :)
