Help. N900 locked me out
 

I know this sounds strange but my n900 has locked me out. somehow while it was in my pocket the touch screen has activated and somehow set a lock code that I don't know? I know this sounds crazy but I can't believe it either.

So now I have a locked n900 that does not have ssh active on it. I can see and access the n900 drive when I connect it via usb to my computer though.

Is there any way I can get past the lock or reset it?

This is the code for lock/unlock by default on N900.

I always think the same with these posts but it's possible he pressed the power button then secure device hence locking the phone accidently. I have a password set just in case mine goes missing. Bit pointless though cause while I can flash the phone and the code remains the same the phone doesn't remember to ask for the code again at boot after a fresh firmware reinstall. Perhaps this is a bug?

This happens to me quite often. The solution is to turn on "auto lock" so even if you dont manually lock it while its in your case/pocket it will lock itself and stop accidently presses.

Amazing how random pressure on the screen can do do complex tasks/change settings/remove shortcuts and download illegal images :P

Just a bit OT
i called 110 (the same like 911 for germany) several times with my old phone, even with the keypad locked.
i felt a bit bad about it, especially since it happend several times when i was a bit drunk.
So my current phone is a Slider. (N900 doesnt count as phone for me, it rather replaced my Netbook)

this exact same thing happened to me 3 days ago. the default codes don't work and nokia simply said I needed to mail it in. Just crazy that this could happen and apparently to multiple folks.

I can't believe it either. unfortunately i am back on an iphone until I can figure a way around the lock.

As I understand it, even reflashing your phone won't reset the lock code. Nokia have to do that themselves.

I assume that you have tried 12345 as suggested earlier in the thread? If that doesn't work, I'm afraid I can offer no further help.

However, if you've got files you wish to get off the N900, like pictures etc., then you can still plug the device in via USB and extract files from it that way as mass storage.

reflash it using flasher.exe from your pc

when finished it'll be unlocked, you still won't know your unlock code but you'll care less

That's a good point. Flashing may not change the lock code, but it may temporarily unlock the phone - never thought of that!

hey..
i tried followin the steps mentioned on the link.. but as soon as i give the last command it shows as if the process has started cos it has thata '%m' in the end.. but it doesnt move on.. countin doesnt start.. i m from india and not even the nokia vendors are able to fix it as none of the maemo based cellphones are launched here yet.. cud u pls help??
