Click on the status bar (where your clock and battery symbol is) and you will see it in the drop down menu.

Having issues installing. "Conflict with appilcation packages: python-glade2 (2.12.1-6maemo9)"

Any ideas to get around this?

i installed activity mgr but i dnt find anything in drop down menu. any idea where it get installed? no icon in the apps as well.

I don't know, if ActMan is cause of this bug:
[A Bug] Alarmclock and Calendar alarms are silent
...but I got the situation fixed by choosing the previous backup profile from ActMan (and then switching back to "default").

If ActMan author is reading, he could tell/help what perhaps ActMan did so the alarms in alarmclock and calendar are working again.
Wherever the bug was, it went away by changing "activity".

btw, I hadn't switched/saved/deleted or otherwise used ActMan for weeks, or especially last few days when the bug triggered.

the drop down menu is scrollable and the app is at the bottom of the list,
my problem is the app doesnt actually do anything!
making new profiles or switching between them changes nothing on my desktop, i even accepted all the recent updates but it still does nothing

Have you made changes? Creating a new profile will just copy the current one, and then switching between them will just switch between two identical desktops. If you make changes when in one profile (add/remove a widget) then the change should be toggled on/off as you switch profiles.
