That's what it says on the nokia website.. any ideas if it's actualy coming? or how later 'later' is?

I don't think so. They announced VoIP-based video calls now for PR1.2, but there's no word on real video calls. I don't expect them to be available in Maemo 5. MeeGo maybe, but not Maemo 5.

certainly not. they never promised they'd provide video calling. what they said was that information about availability will be announced later. this can be read as "we don't know yet if we'll ever support video calls, check back later if you want information about this."

Read thru thread (and forum) before sayig something that is not true and before disinformative people. there is only VoIP video calls for now.

I really wonder if this would be technically possible at all. Are the relevant parts of Maemo open enough to change the way a call is initiated?

I'd put money on them not being, from what i recall the actual phone part was still closed source?

Oddly I don't think there's video calling in android either?

I wouldn't know about Android, I'm not going to touch anything related to Google. ;)

OTOH, I wouldn't be surprised. In recent years, phone design has become the main field of work for decorators, hair dressers and beauticians. It doesn't matter what the €500,- thing does, as long as it as a spectacular pink gradient with bubbles as a background image and looks great with your Gucci shoes.

Indeed my brother works in a phone shop and says 9/10 times if people don't want an iphone, thier only buying decision is "can i have it in pink"
