eBay N900 Cases

Anyone plumped for the £3.90 cases on eBay? Any good?

Here's what I was looking at:

This looks very similar (in fact: identical) to a PDair case that I recently purchased for 18 USD.
( (see http://www.pdair.com/catalog/product...ducts_id=26638)

This PDair case fits very nicely, gives the N900 some protection (I hope) and enables better grip.

I think that for BP 3.90 you should give it a try!

Bioman, does the cover impede on the already cramped keyboard?

mathman i got that in black. its just a crystal case with a coating. my front clips broke off after 3 weeks, i have not dropped it. the back still going strong.

Well, yes, the cover is about 1 mm thick, so I guess that makes the space for your fingers above the top row 1 mm smaller.

Having said that: I hasn't bothered me yet. I got the case almost at the same time as my phone so I've always used the keyboard with the case in place.

Re: eBay N900 Cases

I bought a couple of those cheap rubberized hard cases on eBay. I can't honestly recommend them. I bought two of them. One of them came broken, with several of the clips for the front part missing, so it really couldn't stay on at all. As for the other one, it worked OK for three months until it too started to fall off at the front.

I just replaced it with a PDair case. It feels almost exactly like the cheap ones, but is about 5x more expensive. It does, however, feel a little bit thicker and somewhat more substantial. I've only had the thing for a week though, so only time will tell if this one will hold up.

I really can't recommend those eBay cases though; I guess you really do get what you pay for sometimes :)

EDIT: Also be aware that if you order from PDair, your credit card company might charge you a foreign transaction fee, as this company appears to be based in China. I got charged like $0.50 or something like that on the transaction. This didn't happen with the eBay ones though...

Don't buy the rubberised hard case. Mine broke after four days. First the little retaining notches broked off then shortly after the case cracked..

i got this as well. it's in black. the front case became really loose after a week. and it just fell off at a point and i couldnt find it no more. my n900 been naked ever since LOL. the weird thing is my friend actually got one as well but his is in read like the one in your link. it's quite ok. still tight and fit. BTW you can get it for 1 quid less from another uk seller on ebay~~~but still it's overpriced. it would ve been like 50p or 80p each in China.

find the aluminium pdair case and get one of them, coolest looking case and best protection ever

Re: eBay N900 Cases

The trouble with all cases so far is that they have to be removed so my N900 will go intoi me car brodit mount. Seeing as I use the car mount twice a day I soon loose patience with cases :(

I need a case that has a car mounting solution :(

Re: eBay N900 Cases

like i said the aluminium case from pdair offers maximum protection and their site also offers a car mounting bracket that is compatible with the case, best money i spent in a long time!

Might have a look at the aluminium case then

Re: eBay N900 Cases

I got the pdair aluminium case today. It is very light and seems well made. All the holes line up properly with e.g. proximity sensor. I got the silver version which is quite 'shiny'. Probably would have gotten the black version instead if I had seen it live first. It makes the phone a bit bulky but that was expected. Overall seems like a good case.

i have the silver one as well and i like it more than the black one but i guess thats a matter of taste

Re: eBay N900 Cases

After a few weeks of use another short review of the pdair aluminium case.
I found that the case has a few annoying "features".

* the top cover doesn' t sit tightly so when opening the cover the screen is usually covered in lint from my pocket
* the top cover prevents the use of gestures from off screen to on screen e.g microb's back and cursor select.
* as people have stated before. The static closing clip can hit the screen if not careful.
* it is bulky

Bottom line is that I probably wouldn't buy it again even though I have a two year old who likes to "handle" the phone.

Do yourself a favour and get an Otterbox !

Re: eBay N900 Cases

Get an Otterbox case.. Got mine on ebay for cheaper than their official site.. Its perfect.. has a layer of rubberised material and then the hardcase on the outside.. Maximum protection with minimal hinderance to looks and usage. .

Re: eBay N900 Cases

I have a clear one I got from ebay. Works great. Excellent fit, doesn't get in the way of anything. All I wanted was something to protect against everyday abrasion, not a freakin' Otterbox.
