Re: StarGate SG1
Stargate is one of the movies I always use to show off my home theater & sound system. Nothing like a wormhole opening to knock your butt back into the cushions!
I like SG1 as well and own the complete series box set. Bah...drama. Everyone knows that at its heart SG1 was a comedy (at least prior to RDA leaving). |
Re: StarGate SG1
The last couple or 4 of Universe have been pretty good. But every once in a while I need to watch an Atlantis or SG-1 rerun to remind myself whagt excellent stargate looks like.

Re: StarGate SG1
They did not cancel it early enough, it got lame before they canceled it :( lost most its pride and glory at the departure of MacGyver :'( Never got into the story of Atlantis even though I started to watch it from the beginning, it never caught my interest. Stargate Universe is a masterpiece though, I love the that Eli has a crush on whats her name, and the conflict with Dr. Rush and every one else ( I like Rush and Eli, everyone else except the pretty girl i dont remember her name, can just die in the vacuum of space :) )

Re: StarGate SG1
well i mis the old series to but the new sgu is ok if they leave.the telephone stones alone becouse they realy su... and makes the series so crappy ..
i just wish they had more action and less talk .. |
Re: StarGate SG1
I dropped out somewhere in the second series of Atlantis. I just couldn't bring myself to care about the characters the way i did about SG1. Can't comment on SGU having never seen it.

Re: StarGate SG1
SGU is definitely more dark and serious than any of the previous Stargate series. The drama reminds me of Battlestar Galactica. I'm enjoying it because there are some excellent storylines, but sometimes it does seem a little slow-moving.

Re: StarGate SG1
Loved SG1. Liked SG Atlantis alot. SG: Universe is ok.

Re: StarGate SG1
Re SGU: I'll watch it if nothing else to do. Most of the characters are just dullards. Rush is quite interesting though. The military are mostly idiots.
Watched the episode last night where Eli and a few non descript characters get trapped in a tunnel after the roof caves in. The roof caving in was caused by one of the soldiers firing a couple of bursts of fully automatic fire at a........spider. It just seemed like a crap story construct desperately created just to get them trapped on the planet. |
Re: StarGate SG1
Come on SGU is really good! It's quite unpredictable and I like the new characters, unlike SG1 there's not much 'always a happy ending'.

As a rule of thumb, when the writers need to rise a main character from dead (or de-ascend, a minor detail) in order to keep the plot going, it's time to cancel. |
Re: StarGate SG1
yup SG1 was class. SGU is not up to scratch but e11+ are geting a bit better.

Re: StarGate SG1
imho sgu is the best ever stargate show. i like dark scifi alot. as others said it is just abit slow
|
Re: StarGate SG1
SGU is ok.
But lets be honest. Nothing tops the first two battlestar galactica seasons. |

'nough said. More on topic, I have all of SG1, and Atlantis. Oddly when I first saw the movie of Stargate, I thought "Sweet, inspired by Zechariah Sitchin's books, and just generally awesome. They should make a series!" The problem of course is going from the awesome Kurt Russell and James Spader to Richard Dean Anderson and others. I couldn't watch it initially. But eventually I ran out of other DVDs to watch, so decided to start buying the Stargate SG-1 series (didn't hurt that Wal-Mart had them for 20 bucks a season.) Fell in love with them and watched all up 'til Atlantis. Haven't started watching Universe yet, and probably won't 'til much later. I don't watch Television anymore, just DVD / Blu-ray. I still find myself able to watch Firefly / Serenity over and over again, but not sure if I'll be able to go through all 15 seasons of SG-1 + Atlantis any time soon, as awesome as they are. Babylon 5 is also equally awesome! Battlestar Galactica.... I watched the pre-season movie and the first season and thought 'meh'. It was Okay, but seemed to try too hard. There was just something 'off' about it. slaapliedje |
