More icon missing !
 

Hi one and all, I have had my N900 since launch in the UK last year with no problems at all. Since then I have been trying to get one of my friends to change from a iphone. Finally two days ago they got there new N900 and yesterday they started loading up music from there laptop. last night I get a message help my more icon has dissappeared. any ideas as I did not think this could be deleted.

The more icon is no longer available in PR1.2, did your friends update to unofficial PR1.2 RC image ?

create a file named "applications.directory"

edit the file and pasta this


now save it, copy it to the memory card on your n900 and open a terminal

now switch it on again and tell us if it works

right then, now at work and have the device in hand. very strange this. Tried adding the shortcut to desktop for app manager which it did but it does not work.

Will need a bit of a fools guide to this. I know for a fact that the more icon was there yesterday.

First things first, how do I establish its current version ?

you gotta be root to do this.
do u have the pr 1.1.1 ??

go on the cellular call, type

*#0000#

press crtl button + maiusc + p

now u ll find a picture on the device, paste it here its a screenshoot

just dont understand this as my N900 is fine but this is just odd. He assures me that no updates applied and the only two things installed were Hermes and Petrovich.

X terminal does not even work, just added a shortcut to screen and thats not working either ?

trash away your n900 and buy a sagem. have a nice day, the only thing that i can say to the very low very basic noobs

Reflash should get you back to a system that acts normally.

@Santiago: Well that doesn't help him, does it? It's the same as saying "don't post on English forums if your English isn't perfect". Just stay away from these topics if you don't like them, and if someone is holding a gun to head forcing you to read and comment, then you should worry about that!

@Pangasius The easiest way to solve this is to reflash. Make sure you make a backup (contacts and media files will be not be deleted by reflashing) and follow this guide.

are u a moderator?! i was just kidding! take a drink and relax, u r not God... and the easy way isnt to reflash! but try to restore the bad link file. do u reflash for everything? me not... the people has to learn that isnt needed the reflash when there is a simple problem like that!

He is not a moderator but if it was a joke you could at least put a smiley or after making your very cool and funny joke try to help OP...anyways this thread is not about you....


@Pangasius catorise is a program that displays icons in folder similar too app manager so there is no "more" but it looks like you've got another issue so still only reflashing

I had this problem once after uninstalling MyMenu. I had to reinstall It from the terminal.
Since it was not available in the menu, I was advised to press CTRL+SHIFT+X to open a terninal, then type hildon-application-manager to launch Application Manager.

Last resort is to reflash. Just run a backup first.
