@mangal_sk8erboy
Open x-terminal and run the command "df -h" and paste the output.

@knowledge
As root from x-terminal
run "apt-get upgrade" and see if it gives any error
Also can you run another command and paste the output
cat /etc/apt/sources.list.d/hildon-application-manager.list

I didn't get any error with the first command
with the second one , it says : not found ....

Re: Catalogoues are not working !

and what about this "/etc/hildon-application-manager/catalogues", do you have this file ? It should be an xml file.
The application manager reads this file and creates the /etc/apt/sources.list.d/hildon-application-manager.list.

You can run "df -h" with both root and user.

Re: Catalogoues are not working !

I've had problems with the catalogues in the past, and all I needed was to reset the power. After that it worked properly.

Re: Catalogoues are not working !

The repository looks fine.
How about you install the program manually.
Open up browser from your N900 and try to install any program, it will open up the Application manager and install. After the install check the list again.

Try to install Gweled

Also, after this can you post your screen where you are having problem.

I tried to download some applications from the OVI store but once the application manager opens , it says Packages are required ..or something like that...
and here is another image of my application manager :

Re: Catalogoues are not working !

Thanks. Try few more things as root and paste the output
Close the application manager first.
1. df -h |grep -v usr
2. apt-cache search files "Does it shows output or error ?"
3. apt-get update " and show the output"
4. ls -lrt /var/lib/apt/lists

This is the error.
As root
mkdir -p /var/lib/apt/lists/partial
and then
apt-get update

Re: Catalogues are not working !

Good.
Also noticed that your rootfs filesystem is near to filling up. Its 93% used now.
You may need some cleanup on it. There are plenty of topics on this, do a search on this or check the wiki.
As always be careful while cleanup.
