[Conversations] Missing contacts in "New IM" bug with PR 1.2

Ok, I know that I mentionted this bug earlier, but in LPR 1.2 and PR 1.2 threads it gets lost easily . So ...

... under PR 1.2, when I install EXTRA PROTOCOL PLUGINS FOR CONVERSATIONS AND CONTACTS and set up my ICQ account, I can see my contacts in the Contacts app, but when in Conversations I press New IM message, it says "No contacts" ... Facebook works fine here. To start a ICQ chat, I have to go to Contacts first and select the buddy there.

I reverted back to 1.1.1 and this bug isnt here ... I mean, when I press New IM message, my ICQ contacts appear just fine ...

Any ideas, fellas?

PS: I decided to wait for a OTA PR 1.2 update (tommorow I guess) and update my PR 1.1.1 with ICQ up-and-running-fine ... but I guess it wont help either ...


EDIT: Its the same with Pidgin protocols ... probably some mess in contacts-conversation apps cooperation ... :mad:

Just tried this one out for you with PR 1.2 on UK generic firmware. ICQ works fine through contacts but same issue through conversations. Hadn't noticed it before as that's not my normal use case. Hope that helps some. If it helps any the login to ICQ account now is a heck of a lot faster for me.

Thank you, at least Im not alone! :D Hope somebody makes something with that mess ... Now Im deciding what FW to use - I mean what to polish for my use ... I guess Im gonna test this 1.2 for a while ...

I can reproduce this problem. Clicking on "New IM" in conversations results in a "No contacts" error.

how did you get ICQ to sign-in? Mine just says "Not signed in" no matter what I do. I tried the sign in button in the icq account setup dialog, I tried to set my status to online in maemo and then signing in, nothing works.

Have you unchecked the "Use ClienLogin" box? And also, sometimes its impossible to log in after automatic change of internet connection ... usually helps OFFLINE-SAVE-ONLINE-SAVE ...

Try reinstalling the protocols for ICQ. After a restart it should work again. At least, it was like that for me... But the "no contacts" problem through Conversations still remains for me. Even after deleting and readding contacts with their ICQ numbers.

I just tried and now it just comes back to the accounts dialog. If I re-check it it does the same, I'll try rebooting and re-trying.

Have you tried the supposed reinstall of Extra protocol plugins? And have you tried deleting your icq account and creating it from scratch, with "use client login" off?

BTW im never able to log in with clientlogin ON ...

i have the same issue woth Hotmail/live.

I flashed my phone and the eMMC and did not restore my backup. as i desided to redownload eveything i used.

cant wait till there is a fix for this

edit: just done my facebook chat and my Facebook contact shows up but hotmail does not

Same here. I updated my phone firmware to PR1.2 via NSU. When i install pidgin extras for IM and set up my YAHOO MESSENGER account, i can see all my friends in the contacts, but i can't see my friends (contacts) in NEW IM message it says "No Contacts". How to fix this problem?

I can confirm this YM bug. Manually flashed PR1.2 because OTA was borked.

yeah... i have the same problem but with yahoo messenger... it really making me crazy... the contacts appears just in Skype but not in Yahoo or ICQ... and i can't seem to uninstall PR 1.2. its says that there is some pack missing or something like this... anyone here can help pls :( ???

Well, I found out I can live with that ... put my most iportant contacts shortcuts on the fourth desktop (never used by me) ... and forced myself to get used to open every conversation from contacts ... after a day, I am content again, as no other bugs seems to be roaming my device :)

if u wanna c ur contacts, go to contact-all contacts-groups-yahoo-done.....problem solved:D:D:D

Is this already added to the bugtracker?

Me and two other friends have still the same problem with ICQ and we've flashed via different ways. So it's definately the firmware and not the way of flashing.

i installed pr1.2 and my IM contacts are not showing not even skype. i think its a maemo issue not pidgin

hi. so i upaded (is it an upgrade???) to 1.2 and now msn will not show my contacts. iv tried msn protocol msn haze and msn pecan even updated all 3 and non show my contacts. please help

Known problem. Plugin has issues. Contact developer or search forum for possible solution or workaround

i reset my tracker (tracker-processes --hard-reset) to see if this make any change to my contacts and still nothing. i can only see my facebook contacts and not my MSN, twitter contacts unless i go in to address book

Hi there.

I had a search but i couldnt find anything that helped. I found one topic with no useful replys. Apprently trying pecan/haze works for some but i have tried MSN haze and pecan...non of the 3 work

got the same problem here.. but i also got a solution

what i did was, to make a quicklaunch button on the home screen for "contactsbook" and if you tap the title bar in contactsbook you can sort the contacts by ABC,available,recent.. I choose for Available, and it is allmost the same ;) so you dont have to go to conversations->new IM.

and you can see the persons's who is online.. problem solved..

try re installing al plugins and then it should show...i sitll cant see yahoo contacts though...but msn u should see after re installing.

ok...i removed everything that said "pidgin" and resintalled all of them after tat...thn msn contacts started to show for me.

Okay no workie at the moment, however phsyco's work around is a good tempory fix.

At least i can IM my contacts.

Even facebook contacts don show in the conversations im section!!!

I only see skype and xmpp (FB, jabber, etc) contacts when hitting "New IM" but I see the history and I can list them via "Contact's Groupview"

no problem.. but @ sdesai i dont use pidging plugins but pecan.. Haze and pidgin doesnt work here in the netherlands.. and pecan uses the least data, and is the fastest plugin for msn...

so im going to stick on my work around and see about a week if there is a upadte for it ..

my skype contacts dont even show! Nokia need to sort this out. This a fundimental feature of the N900!

read the bug report... skype contacts dont appear! other ppl r finding this too
